Tense matters almost as much as mood. No wait, it actually matters more.
Endless circle. There is a nice kickstarter QA there :) Some of those things have been added some not. Won't quote anything this time learnt my lesson.

If by wish-list you mean all the ships they would have to add then I guess yeah, content keeps coming until money keeps rolling that's how things work.

Or don’t work. In CIG’s case. In terms of adding the gameplay attached to said ships.

I’d list all of the unique ship functions (the difficult, gameplay bits) that CIG have sold but not added, but it’s easier to list the ones where they’ve actually delivered. The Prospector, the Mantis, and the Mole. And the Mole doesn’t work apparently ;). (You can have the 890J’s docking bay if you like too. And the generic cargo bay function on other ships if you really stretch it...)

To say that represents a significant dev debt, given the roster of expensive ships with USP gameplay, would be the understatement of 2019 ;)

And they keep... selling... more. More of the undelivered ones. More new undelivered ones.

Even Santa’s elves couldn’t fulfil those orders by the looks ;)

But I don’t expect you to get this. You think a $35k package riven with pre-orders for the above is perfectly fine.

It ain’t.

Here’s to salvaging only being 3 years late in 2020 eh ;)

If there's one thing I can praise SC for, is that the lowest possible package gets you access to the whole game with nothing walled off. ....yet.

That pay to pay more joke can apply to Elite, too. You buy the game, get in, try to do a mission to a planet, get asked to hand over more money, do so, finally manage to land, decide to check out your ship, try to change the color or something, and get asked for even more money. That actually turned one of my potential wingmate friends away from the game. "You mean you have to pay for this game, it has season passes, and micro-transactions?" Tried to explain the reasons for needing that much funding, but didn't work.

Not actually true since a lot of the SC gameplay (of which there is too little) is linked to specific ships, so there are many paywalls if you look closer. Rentals are a very recent addition, so for a very long time, you were stuck with what you bought.

ED do 'cosmetic' micro transactions, there's the difference. I've had ED since not long after initial release, never once have I felt the need nor been funneled into buying anything other than Horizons.

But rentals exist in SC. For what's like a pre-alpha, I could see being upset of the game was released. Not even Elite got that 5 years post launch. Kinda wish Elite had that at the start. But that was in the old days, back when 100k a mission was considered "unsportman-like" using smuggling missions. xD Nowadays you can go make a few hundred million with almost no effort without "cheese." Friend started Elite and had a Cutter of all things after a couple days. In my first couple days in 2014 I was still toying around with Eagles and Vipers. And God... The months of rank grind back then. Now apparently it takes a couple days.

Also I felt pretty funneled being Default Steve in a sea of decked out rainbow commanders and constantly being alerted by the game about the ever expanding store and sales and whatnot, lol. It was always in my face, and it's only gotten worse over the years. (I see they added a big different color arx button right to station menus and stuff since last I played. And that whole "we'll allow you earn just below the cheapest item every month to hopefully entice you to buy an arx pack" thing. Felt very free to play of the game. Dunno if they changed that since. But hey, at least I can get a ship kit after six months now, so I guess technically you can play entirely for free now. (is it still 400 arx per week, with the ship kits still being like 12k?) Well other than the game and expansion passes.)

At least I liked the stock look of some ships/commanders. Default viper, no paint, no parts, no decals, no name, no ID plate, no lights, no cockpit bells and whistles. Just me, a black jumpsuit, and zero accessories. Good times. xD You might have construction strobe lights strapped all over your SRV and rainbow lasers, but I have a standard-issue MK 1 matte black flightsuit. Now who's laughing. At least I had a custom HUD color. Oh, and I was given a pair of sunglasses one time.

Though I eventually crumpled with all the limited time offers. So much stuff passed through the store that was "One time only get it right now before it's gone forever!" type deals. Did they ever re-sell stuff like the Braben bobblehead? If not, then good thing I splurged. Some of my friends missed that, because every time a new ship was released, they bought a hundred dollars in accessories for it. I never did....except for with the Krait. It was an old favorite of mine, so I justified blowing like 25 dollars on it to customize it.

Obsidian singing some praises. He does explain my thoughts about SC very well. Both the good and bad. The times have changed and it is interesting to see content creators reflect it...

That and CR lying through his teeth when asking for money on kickstarter, claiming that the Crytek demo on show was the currently playable version of the game.

Hey, remember when someone pointed out a problem in the kickstarter video and CR said it was a bug and would be fixed by release?

Ah, good times.

Yeah, he's got a soft spot of exploration as he mentions, its been a big part of his ED videos as well. As he says, he loves just flying over planets taking in the view.

LOL, at 4:49 he says "It was protected by goons in spaceships".... apparently not referring to the denzins of SA but NPCs.

Funny how when he gets onto actual "gameplay" he encounters nothing but problems.

I feel he isn't taking CIG's history into consideration when he says "things can only get better", or else just being overly optimistic.

He does bring up the snail pace of development but says its the subject for another video.

Still, overall, pretty standard OA fare. Positive where he can be while trying to remain objective.

Must say, its nice to see the planetary terrain, the Tier 0 planetary tech is slowly catching up with modern games.

Elite doesn't need rentals since their funding hasn't come from paywalling ships which in turn paywalled gameplay, which is where a lot of SC's funding has come from. Early guys in SC basically got fleeced imho. Like I said though, ED's cash shop is all about the cosmetics which are neither needed nor important to the game or experience.

I've been playing ED off and on since just after release, not once have I felt the need to buy anything to change my character or ships, I still have "default CMDR" and only the other day got a pair of sunglasses after noticing the ARX thing, I still haven't bother to equip them though :D The ARX shop was completely new to me a few weeks ago, never did anything but log in and play tbh. You felt funneled by other CMDRs to the cash shop? That's a lapse in control on your part not the devs or the marketing, I don't mean that to sound harsh or nasty, just some peeps are easier to entice into shopping is all, perfectly normal. :)

I play ED entirely for free, apart from the cost of the game itself and despite not looking as 'interesting' as other CMDR's with their boobleheads, fancy lights and paintjobs, there is nothing stopping me from doing anything they can do in game. :) Limited time offers? Nah, not for me. Hence my distrust of CI`g and literally anything they sell/market/talk about, since they market everything in a way specifically designed to make people think they are getting a good deal or a limited one time offer over and over again. :D

Happy Christmas everyone. :D

i know you kids (except agony... whateves!) love seeing the p2w guys loose! $260 ship going down to the $90 ship

and if that surefoot guy is still around, i really want to know how you get SC ships to stop on a dime! it would be sooooo OP!

You say that like the $90 ship is cheap, its actually priced way above AAA full game releases. Star Citizen just boggles my mind.

Oh god, that's pathetic.

Here's a game from 1998 that did it better.

There again, Chris Roberts seems to think its still 1990...
I thought it looked pretty nice, and was almost spot on for how it is in real life when ice drifting. Source: Been going out on lake superior for decades during the winter.

Yeah exactly. I dunno what people were talking about with stopping on a dime. Even the smallest ship doesn't do that.

Even when going 50m/s it still took a few seconds to come to a stop.

Edit: Oh, that was supposed to embed/link.
