Quality of Life: One Thing

Cross-save.

Let me use my PC cmdr on the PS4 version of the game, likewise let me use my PS4 cmdr on the PC version of the game (and xbox I guess).
Obviously you need to buy it on each platform, but given all the cmdr data is stored on FDev's servers, get rid of the platform locks and just let us load it wherever we want.

(note this is not the same as cross-play, you still couldn't instance with other platforms)

There are a lot of suggestions that have been made on this thread which I would like to see in game, and might even have suggested myself, particularly the modes mess and storage improvements, and bookmark categorisation... But there are lots of things suggested herre I'd like to see, however to avoid repetition I'm going to pick somehting from lower down my list, when I'm in combat in VR, so slight pixel defficency therein, with a mix of gimballed and fixed weapons, as I draw a bead on a target between the subtarget square, the recticule, the dots for each weapon there is far too much of the same coloured HUD elements going on is such a small section of the field of vision, it all becomes a single coloured blob.

I'd like to see the hud gunsights reworked, Ideally I'd like to have the weapon bead indicator change colour when it will land the shot, I'd also like ability to select different colours for each element involved in targetting, so I could select a colour for each weapons bead, and a different colour for the subtarget square, and a colour for the targetting reticule etc. But as it is just now, in VR a anything over 1km engagement with fixed weapons, particularly with small targets, its pretty much a guessing game.

Apart from some housekeeping issues with storage and FDev seemingly overlooking a very easy, convenient and almost perfectly customisable colour coding for bookmarks I’ve always been pretty happy with stuff in-game (apart from in-game tools, obviously- we all know they’re pretty ropey.)

Having read through this thread I now feel angered by the sheer lack of obvious tools and quality of life bits ‘n bobs. Damn it I’m encrusted with salt now. Perhaps also a little embarrassed at how much has flown over my head as I’ve been travelling about.

I’ll leave with the other one that comes up quite regularly. Pre-ordering of ships and modules in regard to transfer. Or pushing as well as pulling as I call it.

This ^

Either keep the current "pull-only" type transfer but get rid of the delay (instant transfer) or, at the very least, give us unresticted (from anywhere to anywhere else type) ship transfer.

Even the latter would not require a fancy UI, only a single extra button in the "Stored ships" page. You could select a station from the galmap + system map and then the button would be enabled with its caption saying "Transfer this ship to <name of selected station>".

Most of the stuff I really want has already been mentioned.

MORE Galnet News though. Nothing makes a game feel like Abandonware as a News Station with statistical news only.
Maybe create a portal where players can contribute news. I think something like that existed before.

Forum solo mode. It gets tiring blocking everyone.
Solo forums. What a novel concept.

Jokes aside, I've never actually had to block someone here or in Elite itself.

This. It's such a low-effort thing to do. Just throw some stories at us. Flesh our your anime space princess lore. Something. Anything.

One to stop one to start.

If im in SC an heading towards a targeted station, if I have a pre-planned route and go to GalMap the target jumps to next destination meaning I lose the station as my target, most annoying especially in SCA when I like to spend as little time as possible looking at a countdown clock

Add Waypoints to GalMap so I can plot a route and add some WP on the way without having to replot every time. Even just 1 or 2 for when I see something interesting a few jumps away or so I can plot a trade triangle route for example

According to Deft Beck of NeoGAF (who I assure you is a stellar chap) -

I think it's a flawless definition.

If you had one - just one - quality of life improvement that would boost your enjoyment of Elite in general, what would it be?

Mine would be having different HUD configurations along with the ability to customize their colors and save them in the game, right there in my cockpit. No external files. No more uniform appearance. Select a HUD from a list, mess with the colors until you get them just right, and save it to that specific ship or some external list. The one that got close but didn't make my top choice was updating the Clipper. If can't be classified as a medium ship, give it a damn fighter bay.
HUD would be my first choice as well. Customization options like placing elements where I want them and adding and removing them. Along with that I would love to be able to have a few HUD features like being able to see the trajectory of my ship. Flying FA off, the only way to really see where my ship goes, is looking at the direction of the "dust particles"... In ED's prequel there was a widget that indicated trajectory, which is a very important thing when flying in zero-G. Also part of the HUD, I would LOVE to be able to toggle off ALL button prompts and tutorial buttons COMPLETELY, save for the pilot's handbook itself available from the Codex alone.

Most important thing about HUD functionality for me though: All HUD elements must be part of my ship and relate to ingame events and data, and NOT to game things like button prompts. My ship doesn't have a J-button to disengage from supercruise and I don't need to push up to start my engines when sitting on a planet. I don't even get how they made these things not a toggle in a simulation game...
