Skyrim. Again.
DDO. Still
Alpha Protocol. Now and then
No Elite until I get my PC back properly, rather than this antiquated laptop.![]()
Don't shoot me, but I don't consider Skyrim to be a "good game".Skyrim is such a good game! I recently completed it again.

It has one good thing going for it - lore. It's an amazing "RP simulator". As long as you're roleplaying the living crap out of it (with the help of mods, of course) it's very engaging. But if that wears out, there's nothing to really keep you in. It's all you, not the game.
So as a gamey game (a set of mechanics that keep the player invested and interested) it actually kind of sucks. Combat is horrible, story is horrible, characters are horrible, the game code is horrible,...
It has the lore, it has dragons and it has community that keeps it alive, otherwise the game would break apart.
So yeah, I have about a 1000 hours in Skyrim and to a degree, I love it for what it is (A walking sim. A world sim where you can move in and do stuff.) But it's not a good GAME.
I still view Skrim as a dumbed version of Morrowind...I liked it and spent many hours playing it on the Xbox minus mods and on PC with mods...but it doesn't hold a candle to Morrowind by any standard except visuals.Fair enough, but for me it's a top game. I do use a lot of mods to enhance the game, but even without them it's still an excellent game, I like the combat (although I mainly use bow and sneak which is the games strong point), but in my most recent game I really tried to max out as many skills as possible and enjoyed all the different combat that I didn't usually do. Story is ok, I wouldn't say it's amazing but "horrible"? Nah!Characters are ok, very wooden...not a Bethesda strong point IMO...thing is there's SO many of them. Game code is ok, it allows mods so that's a major thumbs up. I get the occasional CTD, but I do not think there are many games more complex than TES games.
The things you like are a part of the "game" expereince though, I agree that it's strengths are enjoying the scenery as you travel (I don't fast travel a lot, but did get a transport mod for the minor towns!), but if I do fast travel it's to a stable only, then I walk the rest of the way.) and exploring the game world, and that to me is the main gameplay and what the game is. The rest isn't horrible though.....anything with that fat yank plumber is horrible...bleh (pukes).
Yup Morrowind is a complete classic, I still remember the shock of that wizard falling out of the sky near Seyda Neen....dodgy levitation spell if I recall!!I still view Skrim as a dumbed version of Morrowind...I liked it and spent many hours playing it on the Xbox minus mods and on PC with mods...but it doesn't hold a candle to Morrowind by any standard except visuals.
Morrowind was kinda broken, but I actually liked that. Alchemy was like legit cheating and dabbling. Huge world. Skyrim's world is crafted better though. Gameplay might have become simpler and simpler looking at Fallout and TES, but the world building got better, imo.Yup Morrowind is a complete classic, I still remember the shock of that wizard falling out of the sky near Seyda Neen....dodgy levitation spell if I recall!!![]()

The thing I liked most about morrowind was the quest directions, go north from Balmora past the mine turn left at the blasted tree is much more fun than chase the icon.
So I got Project Cars (the first one) yesterday. It was on offer for £10 on the PS4.
But I can't find any instructions telling me how to play it. I found the garage, sorted out a Mustang, but can't work out how to get to a race track with it. Also, setting up the HUD is so confusing. I have only done one race so far, but there are no real instructions, on how to do things. Any decent links out there that anyone can offer me?
Thanks, that helped a lot. Getting there.Top game (despite some hatred from "fans" of rival sims), although the sequel is much better. Official site has this info https://www.projectcarsgame.com/digital-manual-project-cars-1/ havn't played it in yonks though. Quite a few of the cars need setup tweaks, a lot of the defualt setups are not so good.
Pukekohe in NZ...My fave track from the old TOCA 3 days along with Phillips island and Sandown raceway....but Bathurst was the ultimate challenge back then, like an Aussie Nürburgring Nordschleife.Well I fired up Assetto Corsa Competizione last night and had a really good blap round Nurbs GP in a Lambo, need to get a new monitor/tv/VR headset for my racing rig setup so I was on gamepad and it felt really good. Gorgeous graphics and excellent physics, that got me to fire up Project CARS 2 and max out the graphics and despite being older looks just as good as ACC, it too was surprisingly good on a gamepad. I also tried the Forza Horizon 4 demo and jeez the graphics...all 3 game are digital car pawn(filter won't allow the other word!). Although I'm more into proper "sim" racing on real tracks (pretty certain I've virtually driven every major track (and a hell of a lot of National tracks from countries all over the world...like Pukekhoe!!)).
