ANNOUNCEMENT January Update is out now!

When mining now, it doesn't matter whether you are within or above the Optimum yield range. On detonation it suddent jumps to 'above optimum, forecast yield is poor' - BUT - the actual yield is unaffected. In effect Fdev have created a mining exploit.

I should add that now, even if you deliberately set charges way in excess of what's needed, the yield is always 10-14 chunks.
Humnnn,, Ok. I have observed that, but, what is your definition of "yeild"?

Mine is how many tons of the core material I am able to refine no matter how many fragments were released.

I am finding that the prospector report on the content of the body now actually means something.
14 fragments from a "poor content" yields less tons than 10 fragments from a "High content" body.

Deep core mining using seismic charges.
They have "yeld" graph wich affects how powerful the explosion will be (and how many fragments will be recoverable/destroyed in result).
This one is broken now, allowing to place charges with much less attention.

Is anyone else experiencing a MAJOR problem of when you load the game the ONLY option is to PURCHASE the game? Just happened today and haven't read anything about it yet so I was wondering if it was just me. Thanks.

UPDATE: I clicked on "purchase", just to see what it would do and if I could get any information, and my security system went CRAZY warning about danger to my computer and theft of passwords! i don't suspect FDev for a moment BUT it is concerning so I am alerting my mates!
I am experiencing the same thing. Trying to launch but telling me to purchase the game.
DON'T DO IT!!! Read my update! My computer security went crazy!

Got the same problem.

The yield graph has never made any correlation to how many refined tons of material you were going to get. Only the number of fragments.

Cant even load the damn game, "Just wants me to log in and then buy it again", another new update and more bugs, come on Frontier you have been doing this long enough now. lets get it right.....

Since the SERVER states that it has "detected issues" PLUS Firewall alerts of "dangerous site" I wonder if they got hacked? PURE SPECULATION AND JUST THINKING...PERIOD. NO rumor, JUST thinking...want to make tha
Greetings Commanders,

The January Update is now live!

This update is part of our plan to address recent and longstanding issues, fixing as many high priority bugs and issues as possible:

Exploration
Following the feedback gathered from the open beta, we've implemented an alternative solution to help mitigate the long delay when scanning planets with geological/biological sites. Now, when scanning a planet, commanders will receive an indication of the likelihood of that planet having any geological/biological sites ranging from Unlikely, Likely or Very Likely. Alternatively, commanders can wait for the full scan (which takes a little longer) to complete to get an exact number of geological/biological sites.

Background Simulation and Powerplay
We've introduced a number of new Background Simulation states which can threaten a faction's economic and security prosperity, as well as introduced a number of Powerplay fixes and recalculations to better improve the feature.
  • The new Faction States are Blight, Natural Disaster, Infrastructure Failure, Drought, Terrorist Attack, and Public Holiday.

We've also implemented fixes when mining in a wing for those lucrative deep-cores, taking on seeming-invincible Thargoids, Collector Limpets scraping against one's hull, rubber-banding ships and visual artifacts ruining well-timed screenshots. Click here to read all of the fixes in the January Update!

Commanders, please check out this thread for information on Patch One for the January Update. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/january-update-patch-one.535406/
This recent SERVER "issues"; will FDev be posting the reasons (NOT just "it was bugs" or details just source)? Purely because I'm curious and I've never seen it before and wondering if it was outside "interference". Again, just curious nothing sinister.

I have one of the new states in one of our faction's station, but the description in game is different from I see in the patch notes. The state is Infrastructure Failure. I have this from 7 days and not still disappear, after selling tons of food, machinery and medicines...

I completely understand the need for a dynamic market place and support the changes to supply and demand system... BUT it has completely taken away any enjoyment of mining due to the completely volatile marketplace, with no solid reliable in game tool to actually assist you, reliance on external tools to see an actual price, which again is completely unreliable and changes by the time you even jump one system. I was hoping it would settle down, but it appears it hasn’t. I used to enjoy the game for what it was, hard work but paid off. Now it’s just overly difficult with little reward, the mining nerf has killed my interest in the game and i’m afraid I’ve lost interest in it now. Such a shame, I’ve been playing it since the 80’s!!!

I completely agree.
But I would submit that the external tools are the reason for the volatility. Every body rushes to the location paying the highest price and the only thing that can happen in a dynamic market is for the price to crash. BUT, the same thing would happen if there were in game tools.
This is why I don't chase the highest price in some far off system. I have a couple systems close to where which is way out in the middle of nowhere. The prices did take a bit of a hit <20% but they were still a good payoff for the work.

I'm actually a bit surprised we haven't seen a statement from Frontier with all the fuss the community is making everywhere about that nerf (or "nerf").

Because to be honest, with Elite's track record we as players can't judge anymore whether this is all working as intended and maybe just needs a while to settle in, or if there is indeed too much volatility. Or they could acknowledge that the next bug fix update will include the missing filters for instance.
