...What...what is going on? Is there some pounding techno music in the original video I'm missing?

Imagine the immense pressure on CIG when the supposed deadline (even delayed as it already is) creeps closer and closer and they have next to nothing to present for all that time. "Spoilers" only goes so far with an audience as fickle and toxic as the SC one....

Surely there would only be immense pressure if missing deadlines had actual consequences?

CIG is now at the stage where they can miss any deadline, absolve themselves of any resonsibilty and backers will still pony up.

Sounds pretty sweet to me!

Ah yes, that would be such a novel situation. Who knows what would happen if CIG would ever miss a deadline!

Roberts demonstrating how funds are split between the game and him....

CR, ER, and Ortwin, getting old in age (and SC still not released), start worring about their immortal souls and are discussing how to ensure entry into heaven by giving money to God.

ER steps forward and draws a circle on the ground then pulls out all his money saying "I will throw this money in the air. What lands in the circle is mone, what lands outside the circle goes to God."

CR then steps forward and throws his money in the air saying "What lands outside the circle is mine, what lands inside the circle goes to God"

Ortwin steps forward throwing his money into the air and says "What God wants he can take from the air"

I wonder what the reaction would be if CR et al made an announcement that said for the foreseeable they'll develop fewer systems and actually spend that time on the underpinnings? Surely as we approach the event horizon everyone would agree thats best, take pressure off CiG and ensure the game gets made?

Well sure....for Chris and the other scammers yeah. But the developers...you know....the people who actually try to develop a game and work in good faith? Because we all know Chris isnt too low to blame everybody else for his shortcomings and he ll certainly up the ante for those poor souls. Regardless how much I believe that SC is a scam by now I do think that the base tier employees have no say and no responsebility and do their best to deliver.

What pressure? They've done it repeatedly before and their players keep sending more money, just like they will this time round. I thought Apple and Blizzard fans were the ideal dream customers, but SC players backers are above and beyond. They'll be a case study in marketing books.

Chris Roberts will die of old age before Star Citizen is released. His coffin will be a 3d printed version of one of his jpeg ships. He will be buried under a pile of 100$ bills.

I bet SC backers have mobile phones.

Really you think there is any good faith left at CIG?

Surely anyone going into it must be aware of how shady the whole enterprise is and must be milking it for a paycheck that is just reliant on delivering the whims of whatever shiny thing has caught CR's attention this week.

Maybe, but there will always be new people looking to get into the "Xdev" career and see CI-G as an easy first-step on their CV that leads to greener pastures.

"I helped implement X for Y, sadly the project failed, but I learned Z " is a lot better than "I watched youtube videos all day and I need a job"
