Then it sounds like the speed isn't the issue, its the flight model itself that is the problem. Maintaining high speed while being able to manouver should be a possibility.

The acceleration the ships would need to be able to achieve would be absurd. They already pull 20g's or something like that and you already think it is ridiculous.

When SC had a separate "cruise" mode the base ship speeds where quite a bit slower than elite. That all changed in 3.5.

Wow. Elite Dangerous Bobbleheads, and Elite Dangerous combat speeds. Added to the Elite Dangerous landing pad lights, the Elite Dangerous "volumetric clouds", and the NMS multi-tool ... Star Citizen really is breaking new ground!
Forgot gimbals too :) I remember so many solemn forecasts by many a SC extreme fan that SC will never ever ever be “dumbed down” to that level of skillless bull-biowaste (funny my autocorrect changed that to BioWare lol).

Haha, that’s like lichting up a sigaret while you’ve been waiting for your food in a restaurant 😁

Sc is not a Sim. So the LM could handle this problem 😂 I thoght SC is all about fun? So a boring FM and with boring Multicrew elementa is not that funny or?

Speaking of the cruise mode. I remember this times without boring POI jumping. That was the fun times.

Not sure what you are trying to say here, but I am all for fun over realism.
"Realism" is not a word I tend to use for games like ED and SC however Verisimilitude is something for me which is massively important and adds to the fun (for me)..... ie it doesnt have to be literally realistic but it needs to feel convincing and consistent within the games lore which has been created so that it "feels" realistic when playing.

My view is a game which is designed well, fun and Verisimilitude go hand in hand and dont need to be an either or scenario. ..... but does need some foresight in the design stage

I watched the movie Oblivion last night and was enthralled by how close it was visually to SC, ship design, weapons, habitat and there was even a sneaky wee bobble head as well haha ... Very enjoyable movie too :)

Tom Cruise is in it? Well, yes then, it certainly has some parallels with Star Citizen, what with him being in a cult and all that :D

Visually i see little to compare, there is that helicopter thing.. which doesn't really look Star Citizenary. Outfits and weapons, SC is largely just using generic milsim style weapons and outfits, the sort of thing you see in any generic sci-fi franchise from Star Wars to Battlestar Galactica. CR's middle name should be "Derivative"

Also totally lacking in sandworms and Star Kitty.

If there is any similarity its perhaps because CR watched the film and decided to rip something off from it.

Star Kitty? You mean Jonesy?

It‘s simple for a silly game mechanic or in this example the high acceleration the “loremakers“ could do some theory crafting. Fun is subjective. I had fun with the FM 1.x to 2.6 (was the FM with the low SCM speed). With 2.6 the broke the FM I think was for useless turret gameplay.

I can't shake off the impression that there has to be more to fun than goo physics and ww2-in-space as the lowest common demoninator. Imho space dogfights are mostly a lazy way to cover for a lack of creativity.

I tried ALL SC versions and patches and in it's core changes in Flight Mechanics are almost insignificant....they are been turrets in space then and they are turrets in space now with some minor changes here and there but for me personally FM still s.cks as always.......

I've noticed that the servers are pretty quiet...almost like everyone has just given up till the Carrack is let loose with 3.8.2. Had a couple of hours on last night...friends list was totally empty and still dropping random 30k's for no apparent reason.
