EdTracker Setup

I have just bought and built the DIY kit for EDTracker but am struggling to set it up in Elite game.
Can anyone help with the settings I should use both in the EdTracker and in Elite controls.
Thanks weepop

Thanks for that CL working now just one problem , I used to use a POV hat to look around and it is still programmed in controls but does not now work even if I toggle Headlook off. Can it be made to work along side hedlook ??

My gut reaction is no. You can't have headlook mapped to a headtracker and a POV hat at the same time. Why would you want to?

Your gut reaction is wrong but after all your problems with bindings I can understand it.
However I have found out how to do it.
Firstly though the question of why you should want to ? Simply because you may develop a fault which prevents you using your head tracking gear ,or maybe you cannot be bothered using it .Either way this would stop you playing the game. I think you , Globusdiablo experienced this quite a lot judging by some of your other posts.

Now how to do it:- Make two sets of bindings one with head tracking gear enabled and one without and when you start game pick the appropriate one from the drop down list.
Note that the head tracking one will not be available in the list if the head tracker is not connected and available.

I'd always suggest using OpenTrack with EdTracker. It converts the EdTracker basically into TrackIR so it is automatically/natively supported. eg: In ED, you simply run the game, and it thinks you have a TrackIR and uses it. So NO SETUP! It even gives you head lean should you want it.

You can also tailor the movement/response of your head movement too. For example, my head turn is a small to big increase. So around the center a small turn is a small turn in the game. But then as I continue to turn my head the in game effect increases. So a 90 degree in game turn is only a 30 degree actual turn etc...

Neilf Crank Larson put me right in the second post .

I am not using OpenTrack but I do have it and use it in BMS Falcon where I convert roll into lean so I know what you mean.
I will give it a try in ED

On a different subject can anyone tell me how to stop EDTrack from losing the Arduino Leonardo COM port if I restart my computer with the EDTrack USB plugged in.
It retains it only if I wait till PC up and running before I plug in EDTrack

Can't help with that I'm afraid. I believe I've had problem where if I plug the EDTracker into a different USB port it's not happy. But mine is always plugged in, into the same USB port, and I have no problems with it not being detected/working.

Same problem, no solution, also means I have to re run "auto gyro bias" every time as, after being plugged back in, it loses that bias for whatever reason.

Can't comment on that I'm afraid. Works like a treat/rock solid here :(

Maybe try a different USB socket? Give the folks at the site an email?

Tried all the sockets, it only works when directly into a on board socket, won't work through a hub socket.

It sounds like a USB driver assignment issue with windows - these are not as uncommon as you might think.

Unplug the ETracker. Fully uninstall the Arduino drivers, reboot. Re-install the drivers and plug the EdTracker into the USB port, and dedicate that port to the EdTracker.

I may help, it may not. Alternately use another port. Or..... wait until PC up and running before you plug in EDTrack.....

(All bets are off with USB hubs...)

I can heartily recommend OpenTrack.

Here is my EdTracker set-up and OpenTrack ini file...

NOTE THE YAW AND PITCH SCALING

Hope this helps.

I concur... EDTracker with OpenTracker makes life easier, and playing games just wonderful. I generally would prefer to play with EDTracker than my Rift (VR) as it gave a damn good experience without the hurdles VR obviously have (with a game like ED).

Sounds like good advice. It was ages ago I set mine up, but I sort of recall having to do an uninstall/reinstall of the drivers or something. But in the years since it's been rock solid.

Same here - it was (I vaguely recall) a bit of a chore to get set up - but zero problems since, and wouldn't play ED without it. Head-tracking and I can still see my keyboard and beer - win-win!!

Agreed. VR is nice, but not as visually clear as a good monitor with EDTrackers, and you of course still have clear sight and access to all your peripherals. Add VoiceAttack and perfect!

Anyway, we're going off topic... Hopefully weepop and co can get it sorted!

Thanks for your Open track profile I will give it a try. Can you tell me how to "dedicate" a port to the EDTracker.

Meanwhile I have reported the problem on Git Hub and am waiting a response. if I get nowhere I will try uninstall and reinstall as suggested by you and NeilF.

Thanks all for your help
