A Year of Anarchy In Colonia

I'm close to my return journey, probably next month or so. I just need the FC's to drop so I can load up the family. I'll be flying the new mining flagship Cutter out there (43LY) which is nice since I left Colonia without any super power rank. The Thargoids breaking out just as I arrived was a nice lucky stroke on that.

I've missed my short exploration jaunts to various features and the use of neutron stars to really shrink the distances. Can't wait to get back to my cluster of White Dwarfs I was busy cataloging out in Dryooe Prou. Just a couple more engineers to unlock and my work here is largely complete. I'll make up another Krait Phantom to keep back for my return to the Bubble for shuttling to AX fun if that breaks out again.

I wish FDev would give the region something more now. It would be neat if there was a near-ish xeno hotspot or something to go beyond just mission work.

It'll be good to see you again out here!

I wish I'd read this thread before I got to Colonia, I would've saved some carto data for the nameless!

Incidentally, pretty much all their missions involve fighting, which I'm not that interested in, but I don't want to affect their influence, so having to dodge the system until the nameless are offering delivery/scans...

In the meantime I'll be floating about scanning and mapping systems, now I've figured out the fss :)

Check out the mission board again. We've been getting a lot of cargo missions due to Civil Liberty ending. Passenger missions are always available as well, with many straight to Jaques' beacons.

Remember that if you want to help influence but the mission board is trash, you can still bump 'em up with good ol' trade. And "trade".

To anyone else who finds this or uses it as prep advice for the journey I stumbled across this page which as helpful to have some reference points for my journey.

https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Colonia_Connection_Highway

This particular excerpt from from the Rohini entry (Which was also great advice earlier in the thread and tipped me off to this) points to these three systems as part of the route, "Rohini, formerly designated Nyeajaae FO-T c6-9, is a system in the Inner Orion Spur. It is the site of one of three orbital stations in the Colonia Connection Highway, along with Gandharvi and Kashyapa".

It makes a nice route, I'm still prepping for the journey I've been mining the past few days to get funds to the appropriate level. I need to work on my pins (Incorporating Ians advice from earlier in the thread to compliment the standard pinning strategy), work in another couple mining trips and I'll be ready to depart.

It appears I have a couple engineers I need to finish unlocking. I also might top up raw mats before heading out at the crystals one last time. The only ship I have decided to actually transfer out is the Vette.

Now it was said that its cheaper to remove the modules from a ship and just transfer those and rebuy the ship. In the case of the vette is it cheaper to strip all the modules then transfer the hull empty and then the modules seperate as opposed to them all on the ship?

Technically no, it's probably marginally more expensive (a few thousand credits) to transfer the modules separately.

But if any of those modules can be repurchased (and possibly re-engineered) locally you can potentially save money that way by not transferring those modules.

I have a question for those of you out there, it was suggested earlier not to bring the Corvettes reactive armor to make it cheaper, I know you cant purchase the Vette out there but is it still possible to purchase the armor? I didn't see it available on eddb and know its usually sold where the ships sold. I might have misinterpitted the advice regarding the armor.

Ah okay the earlier advice makes sense now, repurchase didn't compute at the time. So ill fill it only with the necessities.

I'm constantly engineering and tinkering, having me out there will def be a big engineering boost for the area. I like the earlier advice of building a set of ships for Colonia to compliment the bubble set (an excuse for more ships, yes please lol). If things work out for me there and I decide to make it a home I might just do that myself.

A ship's armour is only available at places where you can buy the ship. So, I'm afraid you have to bring it from the bubble.

If I may...

I've taken 2 'vettes out (and 1 back - which will go again soon) from the bubble - it is a nice trip :)

If I may suggest that you equip your 'vette to your satisfaction in the bubble - then prior to leaving drop out a few modules you can live without and rebuy in Colonia. Fit the biggest scoop you have a slot for, a big AFMU and a spare 32t fuel tank...

Both mine were able to hit around 32Ly jumps, the NH averaged 120Ly jumps - the benefit to the 2nd fuel tank is that you'll stop to scoop every 10-12 NS jumps, at which point the AFMU can be fired up...

Incidental: having a couple of MRP on-board appears to reduce the FSD damage by Supercharging - about 0.5% per jump - so twice as many jumps before repair is needed.

Don't forget to add a DSS too...

Flying Cutter out, will ship the Vette. I recently got both these ships I have spent ALOT of time in all my others and these are the two ships I have been having a good time in. I'm still having fun messing around with the Vette and figuring what im doing with loadouts for PvE. I enjoy the cockpit atmosphere of the Cutter much more than the Vette so I think it'll be the nicer ship for the trip for myself, I will be doing some side exploration during the trip and while waiting for transfers. I get what your saying about flying it out, and if I wasn't currently in love with Cutter I probably would.

I flew a cutter out too :) Have a lovely trip - look forward to saying 'hello' with my main account when you arrive 👍
(Having squandered my credits on shipping the mediums out)

Another reason I want to fly Cutter is its very survivable in open. Vettes a sitting duck (High wake is high wake, but a wing will potentially pop my pve vette in that time while I'm pretty sure Cutter will make it just about everytime knock on wood). It's going to be the largest chunk of exploration data I have ever handed in to date and it may very well trigger my triple elite. I want to make sure I live to make that drop. 😉

Greetings from the galactic core!

Haven't been out here since... some time in 2017? I was still on XBOX then. Pretty wild to think about all that's happened since both in game and out.

(plz no gank)
