Yeah, he spoke heresy.

I'm sure they will accept him back though if he declares renewed faith and buys more ships and promises to never again doubt the wisdom of Chris.

ha, im the fanboy and i have no idea who or what you are talking about. sounds juicy though.

No, you are not a fanboy. This guy was a real fanboy, patrolling the SC sub, rebutting any and all criticism, telling people they didn't understand game development and how development only really started [current_year-2] years ago. But apparently he didn't like the idea of survival mechanics being added to SC and sold his ships on the grey market and started being critical. In return, the other faithful started telling him how he didn't understand game development and how he didn't understand CIG always planned for the game to be a surivival game, except for those who are saying its not a surivival game because you don't start the game in your underpants (seriously, this was a comment).

He's basically now getting a taste of his own medicine.

I have the suspicion that many of these extreme fans have probably been for a long time aware of the "serious shortcomings" of this project. The best way to save face is to just await the next CIG unforced error to use it as an excuse for out.

"Gazpacho soup!"

OK, I get it, everyone misunderstood Chris' intentions: he's not aping famous serious Sci fi movies, he gives homage to Red Dwarf.

Though RD got a more solid scientific background than Chris will ever have.

SWIRLY THING ALERT!!!!!

Today's video - erm, mining upgrades in the form of - presumably priced consumables that the players demanded!

Waffle!

Alien dropships! That humans perfectly fit into! With one-way transparent armour and interior peaceful forest lighting, that looks like it's unfortunately on fire.

A bit more waffle!

Still no games.

edit - Hang on! If the Tevarin were so technologically superior and protective of their crews, why did they get so utterly whomped every single time?

Got Black Mesa recently, mostly out of nostalgia, i wont comment on the merits of this mod/remake here but playing it reminded me how the AI in Half Life, a game from last century, was rather vicious and aggressive. I know it's kinda scripted and you can count the behaviors on one hand, but it's still quite effective at keeping the player on their toes. Comparing it to the completely brain dead AI in Star Citizen kinda puts things in perspective...
Also the very outdated physics engine is still light years ahead of whatever we got in SC (can we call this a "physics" engine ?), movement is similarly unrealistic with purely linear movement and the player running at 60 kph (Half Life was based on Quake after all), weapons in HL were a bit more satisfying in usage (they had recoil !)...
So how does the FPS part of SC or "Star Marine", you know that purely FPS sub game that has been rushed and abandoned just as fast, compare to a more than 20 year old game, i would say the picture is not pretty, despite the difference in graphics.
Of course a comparison with a more modern realistic shooter like RO2 or Arma series would be more appropriate but the AI thing was just so striking. They really nailed it 20 years ago.
