Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

The fuel scoop is massless, so the only way a smaller scoop can increase range is through decreased power consumption.

Otherwise, yes - unless you want to break some records, raw jump range is often overrated.

Ah,good point.I had forgotten the massless oddity.(y)
i generally build with an eye to ease of computation.
Spent the whole day mapping a system chosen at random 2 jumps from colonia, where i ran into a couple of wanted types so i got out the camera.they were most obliging once they realised i was no threat and had no cargo.

I've been experimentong with Enforcer cannons today and messing around in small ships doing base assaults and skimmer massacres. I got blown up by doing the skimmer missions by just racing in all guns blazing, but it was fun!

With the lockdown coming just after I moved, I've got an absolute ton of free time, which I've been putting to good use by writing music and actually sitting down and properly learning to play my Jamstik 7. It's actually a pretty decent piece of kit once you adjust your playing style to the sensors and remember to put the onus on the synths rather than on finger techniques to add expressive touches - it looks like a guitar but it's sufficiently different to create a learning/frustration curve. Worth it though!

I'm in ... Borann ...doing a bit of mining. "Ah! Grinding for a Fleet Carrier!" I hear you say? Nope. Not interested enough in FCs to grind that many credits, I'm currently at 60% Tycoon so I'm working towards my second Elite rank. For a while anyway, we'll see how far I get before my attention wanders to something else.

I passed the 5 billion in cash mark. Yay me.

If FC's turn out to not be worth it, I'm buying a Beluga and going pirate. Yeah. Sure I will.

Meanwhile, after taking a bit of a break from ED, I ended up in a brand new ship of another kind entirely. :p

This is X4 Foundations, the new Split race. They have cool ships. I think they might be all females, too, I'm not sure. But my commander is (no choice).

The graphics aren't up to Elite standards, and the game is wonky in some places...but it can be quite engaging.

Stay safe, stay home. That's been my motto for years, lol.

Waiting for the tick of the weekly tick. Changed over the Zephyurus ship to a Krait MK2 from a Imp Clipper.
Slower , yes, but more cargo, more guns , more jump range, may be a little less shields though.
I figured out a route that allowed the delivery of Lib Fed packages and had a good cargo return path.
Still paid out for some of the packages to get the merits up. As I failed to find enough people to shoot at.
I can not see where you can monitor the merit increase for an enemy ship take down.
Is it a real time measure some where in a panel , in small print may be....??
Will have just enough merits for the pulse disruptor, but dam it is a fixed mount...humm

If I recall correctly, you can see gathered merits in your first panel, transactions tab, and one of the sub-sections where you can look at bounty etc. One of these will mention how many merits you are holding.

Oh I know how to add one to the time (currently) shown :D

It's just that I'm losing count of the times I'm thinking "Oh, I've loads of time to do task x" only to remember "Oh &^%$££* it's n O'clock already!".

In contrast, I have a desk clock permanently set to UTC - I use UTC all the time due to ham radio skeds.

(I hate daylight savings time, it is another tool for the oppression of the masses.)

really? I was there at about 1400 UTC...it was hell...so much chatter
I was there about 22:00 UTC, and the same quiet was found yesterday as well, there had been a lot of chatter at the weekend though.

Last night had my first encounter with an NPC interdictor in an Imperial Courier but after a dodgy start my T9 beat his attempt to drag me down to normal space.
