Same pirate waiting for me where ever I drop in (game play bug)

In my mining T7. No matter where I drop in on the ring the exact same pirate is there waiting for me and immediately opens fire on me.

1. Random pirates will only attack if you have cargo in your hold.

2. Mission-specific pirates are always the same one (till you kill them) and will attack you every time. (So not a bug.)

So - do you have a mission active?

Edit: There is another case in which a hit has been taken out on you because of abandoning or failing a previous mission. The NPC text for those goes something like "you will regret failing..." or similar.

in ELITE( frontier 2) you used to be able to jump using a jump cloud scanner and class 3 military drives to arrive at a system well before your target had long since left
is this not evidence that despite the ban of military drives(due to space time tears) npc's are somehow still using them?;) (full time geekyfanboy mode lmao) which also
suggests illegal military fuel installations but where are they...…………………….
I want a detailed planet scanner warhead conversion that can be orbitally launched that can search&destroy them if found

Thanks for the reply, I recently failed a mission so that may explain why that npc was after me. But waiting for me every time I drop in?

Yes indeed. Every time you disengage (or engage) supercruise you are initiating a game "instance" if you have a mission pirate or bounty-hunter after you they can spawn into that instance.

If you have a bounty-hunter after you the best bet is to swap into a combat ship then drop into a high-security system - get security to help you kill them. I think you can also remove the "hit" on you by upping your rep with the offended faction.

When an NPC is chasing you everywhere, go to the station (not in Anarchy system). Wait just outside the no-fire zone for them to drop out and start shooting you, then boost towards the slot and let the police deal with them.

The trouble with that is that if you don't get the credit for the kill then the NPC appears again. I used to drop into the Nav Beacon at medium or high security systems and wait for the pirate / bounty hunter to appear then help the security to eliminate the scum. :)

It's always the same pirate, same name?

You can avoid this by never dropping while carrying cargo. If you must leave an instance after picking anything up, then go sell it. This way, the next time you drop in to an instance you'll be scanned, but not attacked, unless it's mission-related.

They tend to scan you soon after you drop, and then leave you alone if you don't have anything they can steal. So drop in clean, wait to be scanned and let them go find another mark, then get down to business in peace.

Yes, same name.

As I said, a mission-specific pirate or a bounty-hunter with a contract on you will always be the same one (name and ship) and will keep after you until you kill them.

random NPC pirates that start coming after you in super cruise will follow you into any instance and back out into super cruise untill you ether blow them up in an instance, beat their interdiction or dock at a station.
