Are you working towards 5 billion credits ?

Thought to create a post on this on the Xbox side. Not sure if there is a larger thread on PC other than BETA conversations.

Are any of you working towards what would be 5 billion plus? How is it going?

I said last week that I would do it and I’m just over 2 billion, to be honest if I hit 5 billion I doubt I’ll come back to enjoy the carriers.

Something just feels off about how the game is setup and how new content is added. I do realize the carriers are not meant for everyone or I’ll go as far as saying not meant for many. I did assume it was designed for someone like me...elite trader with all ships unlocked rep wise, over 1.5 billion in assets and a good ways towards exploration elite.

The 5 billion plus maintenance costs just seems so far outside of feasible or even logical but that’s my perspective.

I passed 5bn assets today. With a couple of hours per day this week I can easily make that 6 for upkeep.
I'm confused about their implementation, to be honest. I'll test them in the beta but I thought a squadron would be able to contribute to their operation and costs and if they can't, what's the point?

First of (applause) on reaching 5 billion.

Yes I’m having the exact same thoughts AND while I’m OK with being able to get one outside of a squadron, if it’s just for me and a friend or three...5 billion?????

I’m like aaaayyyeee Fdevs reduce the cost to 1 billion all in for maybe the same ideas but limited to carry 5 ships total.
To be clear same idea doesn’t mean exact same functions

Testing may be odd if I don’t reach 5.5 billion by 4/30 tho so I’ll see where I end up

A Squadron can contribute maintenance costs, just not in a direct deposit credits way. You can donate fuel, or you can arrange to sell materials to a Squadron FC at a 'loss', which the owner can then mark up for profit. ie sell 100t of LTDs to the FC for 10,000cr/t, let the owner sell them for 500,000cr/t, then a third party hauler can buy them and ship them to a market for profit - for an hour of mining, you earn 1mcr, your fleet FC gets 49mcr for nothing, and some hauler makes money on the side.

EDIT: FCs also take a 12,5% cut from exploration data and bounties/combat bonds(?) handed in at the FC, but there is no BGS influence.

Sounds fun 😐

Yes. I'm at 6.2 bil right now and plan to get a bit more before the 30th. This so I can try a FC in beta2. I doubt, however, that I'll get one in the live game following the betas unless things change significantly.

I started grinding for a fleet carrier last year when it was announced thet were being released for in the fourth quarter, and got to 10.3 billion. After the minig nerf I stopped mining for a while and went to Colonia at the start of this year but returned to the Bubble in time for the Fleet Carrier announcement. Since then, and aided by the lockdown, I'm now up to 22.5 billion credits and still going.

Nope passed 5 bill awhile ago... After buying the Corvette I run out of ships i wanted so the credits just pile up now...

Nope.

Once I'm playing regularly again, I'm sure money will fall on my CMDR at every turn of every misadventure, but it's still going to take a while to gather five-billion credits given my play style.

No grind needed, money just kinda happens to you in this game. Ever since kitting out my Corvette, that was about the last of my goals that I ever needed credits for. My "grind", such as it is, is to be back somewhere they can be purchased by the time they go live, rather than 35,000ly from anywhere that sells them.

I have 11 billion but many others have 25 billion or more. They are crazier than me! Playing with the FC in Beta after buying it for 5 billion it took another 4 billion to max it out. Choose wisely. Lately I play for a month then don't play for several months. This might not be a wise investment.

If you don't have 5bn credits to spend on a carrier yet, don't worry about it. You won't have to endure the carrier bugs that will be inevitable in June, and you will be able to see how carrier-based play develops, all ready for you to take advantage when you do have the cash.

If you do want a carrier, whether you have the cash or not, then join our discord. Loads of information, beta 2 discussion, all lo-salt and positive.

Interesting so maybe I should just chill and play for enjoyment. There’s NO way I’m working to get 10 billion

You know, i got a couple of billion in my old squad just doing wing source and returns. Each of us would do wing source and returns and when we were ready to cash-in a mission we'd all wing up and multiply the cash. It's possible to get 100-200m per hour, more if you are organised. So, we all got loads of cash and we all had fun doing it. Ditto you can wing mine and get extra cash for doing that. It's possible to get a few billion without it feeling like work.:D

I was up to 4 billion, but after seeing the first beta I decided to stop mining, grind some Federation rank, sink a half-billion into a Corvette, and work on getting my Combat Elite (so, therefore be triple-Elite) by the time the December update rolls out. At that point I can decide if the game is looking like it's worth sticking with.
