Are you working towards 5 billion credits ?

I’m still in the Norma Arm and have no interest in cutting short my exploration trip just to grind credits for a week.

so I’ll be one of those testing FCs as a visitor. I hope the next beta will look less like a carrier graveyard.

:D S

I wanted to head back to the Bubble from Colonia, but got distracted and went slightly off course (again).
I mean, relatable, I was on a trip from Colonia to see some Void Hearts, 14,000ly away, but accidentally ended up an additional 35,000ly out, on the eastern rim of the galaxy. Like you do.
Just spent 30 minutes selling all the pages of explo data, so now I can get some rest.

I was up to 4 billion, but after seeing the first beta I decided to stop mining, grind some Federation rank, sink a half-billion into a Corvette, and work on getting my Combat Elite (so, therefore be triple-Elite) by the time the December update rolls out. At that point I can decide if the game is looking like it's worth sticking with.

I may reach double elite...but the grinds keep interrupting me especially as I think I’m a casual player. I play this for a bit and then switch to other games and come back weeks or months later.

I did. For a while. I have 5.2 billion in cash right now. But even though a Carrier costs "5 billion CR", in reality it's much more than that. If you want other services than the base modules, you have to pay more, and then there's the upkeep. So my 5.2 billion is not enough for anything basically. I finished mining and I simply won't buy a Carrier, because I have no intention to spend all the money I accumulated in three years of normal play with a few clicks, then have the whole thing only temporarily.

I passed 5bn assets today. With a couple of hours per day this week I can easily make that 6 for upkeep.
I'm confused about their implementation, to be honest. I'll test them in the beta but I thought a squadron would be able to contribute to their operation and costs and if they can't, what's the point?
Fleet carrier should have been a squadron based addition and not individually owned.

Nope, because 5 billion isn't enough. Its at least 6 billion for an exploration loadout and then you need a billion a year on top, so 7 billion to get started and that will leave you with just enough for a year before your FC is decommissioned if you don't earn any money (thankfully FD are adding UC as a way to make money while exploring... whether you will make a billion a year exploring depends on how much scanning you do).

Currently at 3 billion, not willing to grind for 4 more at this time.

Nope, even with the upkeep changes. It's still a money sink / login whip disguised as something shiny if it cannot generate money from NPC trading IMHO. Want passive costs? Give passive income. Simple as that. I might however pop into Borann to learn and try out some mining at least before it's gone.

I meant during the beta. I can liquidate my assets in the beta and it won't affect my main acccout

Ah, ok. My bad. I was referring to the main game. Haven't decided about the beta yet. This will be the very first beta on console, so I may wait a little bit before jumping in, just in case. But if I do decide to test it I will have enough money since I have almost 7 billion in assets. I'll just skip the thing in the live build.

I'm undecided about the beta, too. Someone said if I don't contribute I am not allowed to nag about the release so...¯\(ツ)
If I sell my colonia-fleet I will have enough money for a carrier and basic outfitting.
But I'm not sure if I will be back in the bubble or around colonia when the update drops as I'm currently on the other side of the galaxy and playtime is very limited .
