Are you working towards 5 billion credits ?

I'm undecided about the beta, too. Someone said if I don't contribute I am not allowed to nag about the release so...¯\(ツ)
If I sell my colonia-fleet I will have enough money for a carrier and basic outfitting.
But I'm not sure if I will be back in the bubble or around colonia when the update drops as I'm currently on the other side of the galaxy and playtime is very limited .

In my opinion, everyone has the right to criticize any game or update regardless whether they'd tested it beforehand or not. That said, it does make sense to download the beta and try it (assuming it will be a separate client from the main game). My reservation is that because this is the very first console beta, I don't want to run into any game-breaking bug that may accidentally affect my live account. I don't know if it's technically possible at all, but given that everything is gathered on Frontier's servers, I may wait it out and see what others experience.

You have a point there, indeed, who knows what will happen.
On the other hand, if my live account gets broken I finally have a reason to walk away from this game 😉

If what they are saying is true and I don't have a reason not to believe them, they took the snapshots of the live accounts and these are being used in the beta. Conversely, what happens in the beta stays in the beta. So if you discover Raxxla or amass unbelievable riches in beta, well, tough luck ;-)

For all practical intents and purposes, it won't even be the same game. Every time a game on XBox has a beta, it's a completely separate client download from the XBox marketplace. On frontier's end, it connects to a completely different server they are setting up using the new server-side patch and a copy-paste of player data which they will be saving on the 30th, same as how they make periodic backups of our player data in case the game needs a rollback after a patch breaks something too profoundly. The two are incapable of interacting in any way.

I mean, sure, they could accidentally do something like deleting the live server instead of the beta server when it ends or something. But then it wouldn't just be beta players who were affected anyway.

Thought to create a post on this on the Xbox side. Not sure if there is a larger thread on PC other than BETA conversations.

Are any of you working towards what would be 5 billion plus? How is it going?

I said last week that I would do it and I’m just over 2 billion, to be honest if I hit 5 billion I doubt I’ll come back to enjoy the carriers.

Something just feels off about how the game is setup and how new content is added. I do realize the carriers are not meant for everyone or I’ll go as far as saying not meant for many. I did assume it was designed for someone like me...elite trader with all ships unlocked rep wise, over 1.5 billion in assets and a good ways towards exploration elite.

The 5 billion plus maintenance costs just seems so far outside of feasible or even logical but that’s my perspective.
No I have the assets, and 2 bil liquid, but I have no use for a FC. At most I’ll hop on someone in my squadrons so we can jump somewhere as a group. Outside that single function it has no value for me

I already have the funds to buy fully outfit and bankroll the FC account for covering incidentals and the attached market. I enjoyed the zen mining experience of VO hunting and have been sitting on the excess credits ever since, and have just been topping them off occasionally to leave a nice cushion in my own balance.

I hope to be a FC owner during the console 'Beta' to fully check them out and see if I want one when they go live.
Things I would like to see changed for the Beta

1) Shipyard as Standard (at least the bit that allows me to transfer my ships; modules and allows for outfitting/engineering) - Showroom for new ship sales should be an optional extra.
2) Market place as optional extra
3) Less egregious depreciation costs.
4) The ability disable/enable services anywhere not just at certain specific carrier locations.
5) The ability purchase my own ships and those from other commanders and place them into stock for resale (including any fitted engineered modules) if I have the showroom option.
6) Allow me to mix and match my stock of ships and modules as I see fit not bound up into a 'bundle'
7) Automated NPC Crew controlled refuelling tender - optional extra. When parked next to an ICY ring would allow for a slow automated refuel to the main tank (not the market). Let's not force mining play on anyone. Rate dependant on Crew rank - (lets have another use for npc crew).
8) Mothball Timer - Any FC that shows no administrative action for 3(?) months is mothballed and removed from visibility , recoverable by Owner logging in to admin panel.
9) The ability to set a Stock level in the market to allow simultaneous 'Buy and Sell' orders with specific prices i.e. specific margins per commodity.
10) NPC's to interact with my market not just my landing pads
11) FC Notice Board in the comms panel for targeted FC - Owner to be able to place public information such as jump schedules maybe market prices.

Don't worry everyone. By the time FCs are released in June any ol' average Joe will be able go from a Sidewinder to an FC in a matter of hours. They won't be anything to be proud of because everyone will have one. With all the crying and whining going on FDev will cave to the LCD.

Why?

Out of curiosity, are you planning on grinding at least double the cost just so you "have enough" to pay the weekly multi million credit sink upkeep? What will you do when you finally tire of all the grind it will take (especially if grinding detracts from other game play loops like exploring, trading, community events, PP etc etc) just to maintain the FC fuel supply and upkeep?

Basically what happens once you finally succeed in achieving this second only to orgasm personal milestone?

Wonder how many billionaire-turned-broke-millionaire Cmnders are genuinely working their Holo Me souls to death. Just to acquire this pixelated, leviathan monstrosity. Customizing their FCs with the perfect load out setup to make dreamed of millions in credits from lucrative player agency opportunities. Only to discover their credit sink isn't turning a marginal profit since their FC is a ghost town. Because the galaxy is such an infinitely vast place.......

sooooo, i'm hearing a yes, maybe?

Yeah.

No.

edit: because FDev are confirmed professional serial killers assassins where committing infanticide of one of the best game play features is concerned to date. A novel feature which--had it not been so completely mangled in the womb--would've revolutionized the franchise. Especially from an emergent game play perspective.

I'm not interested in the FCs at all the way they look right now so nope not getting my balance up at all.
What's more rediculous is that you have to grind that same insane amount of credits to even try these things out in a beta.

What's even better is that when they finally release it publicly, I'll have an 8 hr+ download to look forward to, chewing up vast amounts of my monthly bandwidth allocation for something that most of us will never even see, let alone use.

And if past experience is anything to go by, it will faithfully introduce new bugs which will affect everybody, or reintroduce previously fixed old bugs. Or both.

Thanks FD, keep catering to that all important 1% at the expense of everybody else.

I mined every day for around 4-5 hours with a 2 day break after the 4th time and made 900 million on the 5th day and made plenty of credits and now standing at 7.2 billion to do some good testing on Xbox.
