General [MEGATHREAD] Rebalances and fixes for the progression system, risk/reward ratio, ingame learning curves, pvp, and more!

BGS is a PvP activity by design. Making the interaction optional creates an atmosphere of paranoia and distrust within that mechanic.

BGS in solo/PG is toxic to the community. Full Stop.

This has nothing to do with the OP, but any PvP/BGS related gameplay relies on documentation created by the community instead of through the game itself. And attempting to figure out who you are fighting during BGS conflicts requires hunting through the entire community like a troll.

I'll defend open only BGS and encourage more in-game documentation all day long.

it has very much relevance. Its fair and balanced as to earn the weapons and unlocks in COD you have to play multiplayer, which is much harder than solo. If someone wants to play solo don't let it affect the rest of us, or their progress in the multiplayer mode of the game.
What one developer chose to do with their game in one genre has no relevance on what another developer chose to do with their game in a different genre.

Maybe - however the inclusion of that aspect of the OP was the OP's choice - and it's a topic that's guaranteed to be opposed.
The first sentence of the first reply from a person in a position of authority in the forum, whose posts show up with a different tone to denote that authority goes:
Sounds like just another "Open only" thread - ...
For the rest of the post you then talk about nothing else, nor indicate that the post contains anything else, which is somewhat irresponsible if you're going to act like you have no part in influencing the direction the rest of the thread will take afterwards.

If BGS is to be considered a PvP activity then, at best, it can be considered to be indirect asynchronous PvP (or just "playing the game").

Making in-the-same-instance PvP entirely optional was a decision that Frontier made over seven-and-a-half years ago

It may be to a subset of the community that bought a game expecting to be able to engage all opponents in PvP at their choosing. No-one bought that game though.

Holding an opinion is something that each of us can choose to do. No-one needs share the opinion however.

Yes it does, COD is a prime example of a balance between mutliplayer and solo activity. Actually red dead redemption 2 is another great example. The same prospects apply, but the game is much more like elite in being open world, and the unlocks and grinding.

There's no requirement on any participant to even consider responding to the complete content of a post.

One can insist that different developers should do things the same way, or not - that does not change the fact that each developer makes their own decisions as to how to implement their game.

I'll have to ask you to quit spamming this thread with unconstructive and biased statements on this topic.. it's not benefiting anyone here and only causes a negative environment.
To me it seems like you have not really read the whole post or understood the content in it and therefore jumped to wrong conclusions.

I hope you can give more focused and direct feedback on all this after taking a whole read. :)

Is there a suggestion that the content of the OP is constructive and unbiased with regard to every single player?

Personally I’ve never understood the point of being able to affect the aspects of the multiplayer game from solo or PG. Isn’t the point of those game modes to avoid the main multiplayer portion of the game? It seems counterintuitive to be able to affect the galaxy from your own isolated, “pocket galaxy”.

On another note, I like how you mention the game’s inadequacies at teaching players survivability. So few players actually learn how to build and fly safely because the game does basically nothing to teach them. The truth is, it’s surprisingly easy, but unless you have someone show you the ropes and teach you the process you’ll never learn it. This means players who exclusively play solo or in more sheltered PGs will likely never learn it and they miss out on learning a critical game skill.
