I didn't know the backers asked for it not to be removed, really interesting to learn that. I suppose if you're financially backing a space simulator you'll want it to, well, simulate.
If you avoid that which makes Elite Dangerous, dangerous, I'm not surprised you aren't getting an experience that is enjoyable.
"I don't play in Open: you have fully engineered PVP ships preying on non-engineered mining vessels, it's suicide in my eyes. "
I have always played in Open, my ships are usually completely unarmed. I've been shot down, twice.
Ive been really unlucky in my open experience. Both times I played I was blown up within 10 minutes of play time, my A-rated Python didn't last 30 seconds from initial attack to space dust. I was in silly locations - Borann and outside Jameson Memorial so apparently it's my fault, but those are 2 valuable locations - I simply don't have time to avoid them due to gankers. If I spent my limited play time mining only to be blown up by a Pirate there's also a high chance I just won't play the game anymore as it would feel like 1-2 wasted hours. Im also terrible at PVP combat (I am practicing though), once I fully engineer my Vulture I intend on being blown up many times PVP'ing. Im also having a great time in ED, this isn't a complaint or me moaning, just something I thought could maybe 'speed things up a bit' to benefit purely myself ha.
@OP - I sympathise I really do. I am generally restricted to between 1 and 2 Horus gameplay a day and I barely get anything done in less than a week - a good deal of my time is spent travelling, and the rest is spent using third party apps on my laptop to find what I was looking for in the first place - but don't get me started on that (where's the lore for dreadful in-game communication/information mechanics!)
the travel time to most stations and planets is less than 10 minutes total including arrival and docking (Hutton not included

I'm with you there! 50% of my playtime is spent staring at a website trying to remember just exactly what I'm doing!
Those 3 round trips included 6 supercruises (lots of time to ponder, hence this post ha), even with the cruise and docking only taking 10 minutes that was still approx. 60 minutes essentially wasted in my eyes. I just felt that the supercruise aspect really didn't add anything to my experience. I love it when exploring and traveling from planet to planet or searching for signal sources. But generally if I'm revisiting a station time and again it's for a specific task, dropping into the system then supercruising to the station is just tedious and takes up valuable play time. But I understand you can't have it both ways and I get not everyone is limited to how much time they can't spend on games. The world doesn't revolve around me (although it really should).
Yeah I like the 50% increased speed, or maybe only allow you to set it to 1 or 2 stations, so if there's a station you'll be visiting time and again you can set it to that. Will only shave 10 minutes per trip but that's 10 minutes you could spend staring at INARA ha.
