game menu says resume when it shouldn't

The game menu says resume when it shouldn't. Resume implies that it was paused, which it most certainly was not as I found out after logically thought was after I pressed the "P" key (note the first letter in the word pause is also P giving it an inherent association). In a game were consequences are grave I cannot understand why the UI design gives you no hint that the menu screen is not paused and that you are not safe. Whoever is designing the UI for this is responsible for the pointless loss of stuff of an untold number of CMDR's and probably people quitting the game outright. This isn't hard to fix, it's a known issue, fix it for god sakes how many more people need to lose all their stuff due to poor design before it gets fixed.

What do you think it should say?

Maybe "OMG the game is still running! Best get back NOW!". But that's quite long. So they truncated it to Resume. I can't think of a pithy phrase to indicate the game is still running, except adding that info somewhere on the page (which no-one would read :) )

Or to answer your underlying questions - 1 it surprises people, 2 they usually understand when they think about it, and 3 we've seen this thread a few times :D

Rejoin and presumably several others

You lot are evil. I bet many of you made the same mistake. He's not the first and he won't be the last. Pause normally means pause and resume normally means resume after a pause, but in this game pause doesn't mean pause. It means make the game look like it's paused when it isn't. If you're lucky, you can hear the gunfire. If you're not near enough to hear that, you come back to the rebuy screen or some other mystery.

True everyone makes mistakes. {Even I made one once. (1971 if memory serves.) }
But I didn't blame someone else for my misunderstanding.

Fair enough but the OP was posting complaints back in 2016 and so assuming they have just returned to the game they either forgot there was no pause or they had a brain fade and decided to post a whine to keep their record at 100% ;)
