Epic Games taking a stab at Steam

My Epic has it at £55. Same as Steam
That's odd...

Edit: This is what it looks like by me (289 Danish kroner, equivalent to 40 euro)

Slightly off topic but I miss the days when you could just install a game and play it.
Now, every man and his dog want you to install their super-duper launcher software in order to play so they can enhance your gaming experience. The cynic in me wonders whether their super-duper launcher software is more for their benefit than mine, and how safe is the data they're mining from your machine and usage.
Maybe I'm just being a bit fuddy duddy and worrying about nothing? Or, maybe..... :)

If you're online you've already sold your soul to big corporate data mining. Sit back and relax. :) Personally, I'm glad that someone is trying to break the Steam monopoly. And when Epic games does it like this, they've got my vote. :)

Went ahead and did the pre-purchase. Release has been delayed till July 14, because of this Corona conspiracy (right, Cmdr Mander?)... ;) but the price was good.

Can't wait to get my hands on this piece of Kojima quirkiness.

Death Stranding is such a cool game. Been playing it on the PS4 and it's just so weird (in a good way).

I've downloaded the free version of Civ 6. Not my usual type of game but I'm a sucker for free stuff :)

I'm in too. I've long been intrigued by the Civ series, but never felt certain enough to buy in. And now I don't have to! Hurrah!

Although the EGS insists on calling me Mikkel and tells me that I live in Denmark. I think their web-based new-account software may well be 'not very good'.

Cynicism and realism are the same thing. There is no way they would have these launchers/clients/storefronts or exclusive software if it wasn't helping their bottom line. Don't need any conspiracy theories or ulterior motives to know they are profiting off the basic statistics they collect either, it's usually right in the agreement you clicked through. Anyone using these things thought all the baggage that comes with them was a good deal. Those that don't thought the price too high.

Competition is good

I agree, but "competition" is the wrong word here. Competition would be making a quality platform that competes with steam in features, quality of life and customer/user experience. Instead Epic bought out games in development and locked them to their store permanently or put a year or 2 delay. Never mind a complete lack of basic features for their store front.

The Ten Cent issue is a whole other can of worms...

I got both GTA5 and now Civ6 for free from them and love them. Epic really give away some top game and they are doing it a lot.

GTA V, honestly, I don't get why anyone interested in that game in a slight bit hasn't bought it years ago. It has been the top open world game for seven years.

Civ6 is broken, has very bad AI no bells and whistles can undo. Civ 6 < Civ 5 < Civ 4, so why bother?
