True, but this is the sound of thousands of legs being swept away. I might even boot up ED again when it's released...!
I think they will be barren world with some atmo effects, they will release more complex worlds in another expansion.

The Spectrum reaction to the reveal vid in general has been positive...there's a lot of folks like me who've played and enjoyed Elite and Star Citizen...usual Star Citizen defense corps ignoramusses too but generally folks are pleased or neutral.
As for the new space leggy expansion, as a former fuel rat I'm kinda concerned...does this mean I have to carry Jerry cans about now?

Sadly this is exactly what CIG have not done, by not providing parallel competition Frontier's focus was the development of other games and expanding it's portfolio of titles (a good thing from a studio perspective) all the while CIG have been deviating all over the show on SC's scope and seem to target Twitch streamers with demoware more than a quality complete product and SQ42 is MIA.
ED has not been pushed as hard as it could have been. I doubt Frontier even see SC as competition as much as they did in 2014, they literally went off and made a bunch of other games instead (which I would do too if I was running a studio that had to survive and pay salaries)

My guess is an world tagged as having an atmosphere that doesn't:
Have Water
Have lava
Have some form of life.
So mostly your mars/desert looking high metal content worlds and rocky/icy with atmo. Should still open many new worlds up for exploring/putzing about and give us explorers some nice places to visit. That's really all I wanted.
You won't have to walk the whole way Mole, you can use your Jetpack, but only after you've collected 3,257 new 'hard to find' Grade 5 mats to get Barry 'VTAL' Blastoff to construct and engineer it for you!

Well, FD will have published ED, JPE, PC, PZ, Sigmar and an F1 title (and possibly a JPE sequel) and become a publisher themselves in the time SC has even gone beta (possibly). If anything FD have been pushing just not fully behind ED this time.
CR is saving PC gaming afterall.
Anyone ever totalled up a ballpark figure of how much CR earns with all those companies he set up? I'm curious what percentage of the pledged money went to his pocket instead of actual game development.
I wonder if CR will also be heading the new studio Turbulent is setting up as well.
As long as SC exists mostly in a dreamcrafting hinterland where it will be better than everything else, at some unspecified point in the future, I don't think this development will put any pressure on Roberts and co. As demonstrated, fans will claim credit for SC inspiring other games to adopt similar features, while dismissing them as lacking that critical CIG fidelity that only SC will offer, even though it hasn't done to date and don't take any notice of the alpha that's just an alpha you don't understand game development.
Cool, so Elite Dangerous could actually become a game worth playing in 2021! Sweet. Until then, I will keep playing the best space game available today... SC...

I don't think anyone needs to bash SC much on here...just head on over to Spectrum if you need that kind of entertainment
