Post Your Support for Elite Odyssey to have VR Support.

Well yes, of course. I don;t have a VR headset but it'd be weird to remove VR from the game.

Thing is, this is kind of pointless - if they haven't been developing with VR in mind the whole time, they can't "Just add it in now" it...would take a whole lot of work to do that.

I bought a third hand DK2 headset some years ago to play Elite (and taste VR in general). I have enjoyed the game since I bought the core version (not Horizons) years ago but my VR phase was by far the best. Cockpit, stations, flying/maneuvering, references/distances, moons/planets, SRV, everything was insane. I had to sell the headset and the whole pc so it's been a couple years without playing Elite. God knows I'm buying a new computer and VR headset for Odyssey next year.

Speaking only for myself here, however I suspect others will share this sentiment, if Odyssey "only" had the same level of VR support as we have in "Dangerous/Horizons/Beyond" which is basically headlook and therefore all the first person interactions were done with hotas / gamepad / keyboard and mouse - "press E to open door" etc - I'd be very happy with that. Anything above that would be a very welcome, but not expected bonus, and I certainly wouldn't be throwing my toys out of the pram if I weren't able to use my oculus touch controllers to move my hands and have Halflife:Alex levels of control.

To be honest, this is all I'm expecting any VR support for Odyssey to be like anyway. If that's all it turns out to be, as long as I can play the whole game in VR, then that'd be fine by me.

Of course a No Mans Sky style implementation of VR would be fantastic, but I'm not expecting it.

While I'm here, does anyone have a solution for not getting blinded by nose-against-the-roid Ice mining in VR?
Feature request: UV only, free laser skin.

And yet there are other games that have done just that and very well too. Like for instance: No Mans Sky, Skyrim and Fallout 4 and even Borderlands 2 are all quite good in VR, all of which were developed without VR in mind.

We have VR walk and run in No Man's Sky... If Fdev do not answer our concerns about VR support ASAP then I see no reason why I should continue playing from today. This is not a pointless one-player 'stomp ones feet on floor and throw a tantrum' it is simply a choice I would make.

I don't own a VR headset (yet?), but I'd love FDEV to continue to support VR as from the beginning.
I can't see any technical issues for an implementation, apart from the traversal system. But if, for example, NMS shoehorned VR I don't see how FDEV couldn't or wouldn't in Odyssey.

+1 for VR support for E:O

Elite is the best game I've played in VR, so I'd be very disappointed if the new DLC doesn't support it. I could get used to the spacelegs motion sickness, just like I did with the SRV.

It's sadly official.

Is Elite Dangerous: Odyssey coming to VR?

Currently, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will not be VR-compatible at launch. We’re big fans of VR and we are truly proud of the amazing experience that we currently offer in Elite Dangerous. However, the new gameplay, mechanics and features that will be introduced with Elite Dangerous: Odyssey means that we had to re-examine if we could deliver that same experience without compromise, which, for launch, means Odyssey will not be VR-compatible.

Yes, but it took then a lot of work to do it. They already have a release date. If they haven't factored VR into that, then that would mean delaying the release date.

I guess I'll be putting my VKB's on eBay this weekend.

Set your Effects setting to low, which will turn off that annoying "laser blinds entire cockpit" effect.

I'd settle for just letting me use my XBox controller while on foot and just being able to see in VR (i.e. how Subnautica does it). But if we can't even do that, then I won't be purchasing any more expansions for my alts. :(

And the "not available at launch" is a very bad sign in my view. VR was baked in from the start. If they've created a whole expansion without factoring VR in, then they'd have to go back over the work again. This is the first truly disappointing news I've seen about E: D throughout its life so far.
