Post Your Support for Elite Odyssey to have VR Support.

If any of the CM's are still reading I have a genuine question ...

Will people in VR still be able to fly space ships around beneath a blue sky?

In other words, at what point is VR not suppored? Is it when you transition to "legs" or is it when you launch an "Odyssey" version of Elite?
Alec I think it's the wrong thread, I think you wanted post in the announcement one.

Again, things aren't always fair.

I was fully expecting this news and well, I am just glad that it will be playable.

You do not need VR to play this game. If you feel you do for some reason, despite the fact I have been playing without VR for years, well... I won't delve further.
Thats not fair un1 you are correct you dont need it to launch the game but for some (me included) vr is what separates elite from the rest. I dont "need" vr to play but it might be the only thing keeping you playing.

I really hope this is VR supported...no word yet? Tomorrow's livestream will be inundated if not! At the very least I hope that the present VR remains and the bits that aren't wil still be playable through your headset, you know at the hydrogen fuel station, fill her up, buy some onion head, rizla and apileof hot dogs. Yes, Hawkwind never felt as good as it does with that lot and VR!
I probably would still play it....but with the constant nagging daemon in my head repeating 'how good would that have been in vr, eh? eh?eh?'

So very very sad... this really dashed my spirits today. I was looking forward to this for over a year and now I have to forget about ED.

Oh well, at least I can start doing life things next year. Cut the grass, have a kid, learn an instrument...

I've played 8000 hours since launch and own 3 copies or Elite and 3 copies of Horizons, becuase Elite was marketed to me as 'one of the first AAA games built entirely from the ground up to support VR', abandoning VR at this stage of the games development is a very crappy move by Frontier so I really hope they prioritise adding VR support to Odyssey. Without VR I will still buy 1 copy of the DLC so i'm not excluded from playing with my squadron, but I will resent the act of handing over more cash to Fdev for DLC for Elite that does not support VR.

How will that even work anyway? Can you play in VR up till you land on a planet and deploy in the SRV, then you want to exit the SRV you have to take your headset off?

"Not fair"

Bold words to say to someone who has had the choice of VR taken out of his hands due to a messed up eye thanks to his family tree.

This is all about wants for you. I don't have that luxury of choice. Sorry, but you're not going to get much sympathy from me. Eventually, something in your life will go wrong.

Be grateful that in your case it's just a video game platform, that isn't even going to stop you playing anyway.

And I refuse to believe most of you saying you will quit over this. It's a knee-jerk. A lot of you are on record as dreaming of space legs. I find it very hard to believe you won't be playing.

No matter, because I will. And thankfully I am not being left in the dust by Frontier because I can't use VR.

I am expecting a dcrease in the games I can play in a few years thanks to VR. Because I can't change my literal genes.

But deliberately misunderstanding statements is. Which was my point. ;) And why I was asking.
Well don't play then. Seems a bit illogical to quit over this in my opinion, but I think that's a reasonable take considering we are talking about a literal video game that is perfectly fine on a regular monitor. I mean if you don't have a monitor you'd have a point in my view, but I suspect that is not the case.

Also deliberate? I am sorry, I didn't realise you were a mind-reader who knows my thoughts better than myself!

I don't enjoy flat E: D. Simple as that. If I did, I'd play it that way. My PC isn't currently connected to a monitor I could play games on, but that isn't the issue in the slightest - I could connect the big screen if I wanted.

Still, I can carry on playing Horizons, so no need to quit.

As I'm not, that's why I asked... Your last few posts have come across as though you were deliberately refusing to understand that someone could stop playing the game due to lack of VR. But maybe it wasn't deliberate. I'm still not sure. :)
