Odyssey is a different product. It simply won't be on the Oculus store. VR support will continue to exist for the pre-existing products (elite+horizons) that people have purchased on the Oculus store. You can't seriously argue that anyone is getting screwed, here, because nothing about Elite Dangerous + Horizons is going to change. If Frontier were to pull VR support entirely from pre-existing products, then Oh HECK YES I would agree that this is screwing over their customers. But that's not what's happening.I have no idea if it is true but I really want it to be so am gonna cross fingers. It's all a gigantic bluff to get some of that juicy Facebook money.
Look at it this way IF odyssey is not Vr supported every person who bought ED on the oculus store are completely screwed.
I can't help but think oculus won't like their customers getting a bum deal compared to steam customers.... Not if they want those players to continue buying apps on their store any way

Everspace was a really cool space game which had VR support. The upcoming Everspace 2 is not going to have VR support. This fact does not suddenly take away VR support from the original Everspace, nor does it screw over anyone who bought Everspace 1 on the Ocululs Store.
It's an expansion, although I don't understand how that affects your ability to not buy it.so have i missed something? i thought it was an expansion....or am i wrong and it is a completely different game?......if the later is correct then i am not bothered andjust wont purchase it, but if it is an expansion (as the term DLC suggests) then i stand by how i already feel....and playing hokeycokey with my headset doesnt sound fun at all
I'm 3.14159265359% sure this thread is heading in a very strange direction
I have been happy playing in VR for 6 years. Not once did Frontier hint they would drop support for it and I never thought they would. So is this the future? What of my lifetime pass? Can I get a refund on it? It's useless to me if I cannot play in VR. In fact if it wasn't for VR I would have given up years ago. Here I am ready to buy a new VR headset and graphics card just to play this game. I was so looking forward to this update (the planet tech not the Star Citizen crap) Jeez I'm angry .Odyssey is a different product. It simply won't be on the Oculus store. They would surely have said they are working on it but it won't be ready for launch. I could go with that. They
still
haven't
You get to be angry. I'm not taking issue with your anger or your desire to see VR support for Odyssey. My only point of contention is this notion that Frontier's failure to create new VR products is somehow equivalent to pulling VR support from Horizons and vanilla Elite, which is how some people are framing this.I have been happy playing in VR for 6 years. Who the hell wants to be stuck with a product that's years old while other players get the shiny new stuff? You get to be angry. What I don't understand is that you would be fine with it if Odyssey would be another game.does not affect my ability to buy it but like i said in a previous post, this is how i would see gameplay for VR users
put on headset and fly to system
supercruise to planet
Land on planet
get out of CMDR chair.....VR GOES OFF
take headset off and use flatscreen to walk to SRV
get into SRV....VR back on...
put headset on drive to a location
get out of SRV.......VR GOES OFF
take off headset and use flatscreen to walk around......
get back into SRV VR back on
put headet on and board ship
get out of SRV VR off
headset off to walk to chair
get into chair VR back on
put headset on and start flying
put your headset on, your headset off, on, off, on, off just to play odyssey
you do this all again just to walk upon planets
thats what ED is all about......
OOOOOOOOHHHHHH the joys of VR
OOOOOOOOHHHHHH the joys of VR
OOOOOOOOHHHHHH the joys of VR
from ship to legs is just a big ball ache

Let's wait and see. Frontier have history doing this stuff. And why would they have surely said anything beyond what they did ?
It's only ruled out of the release, not ruled out totally and it will, obviously, remain in the current game so nothing is lost.

So you don't have VR at the moment ?Let's wait and see. Frontier have history doing this stuff.
