What other games are we all playing?

That's odd, I use Tobii 4C myself, and never had any issues. I just downloaded Tobii's gamehub, followed the steps for IL2 and it simply worked. I do use Facetrack NoIR for other games that do not support Tobii 4C directly, like Rise of Flight.
Part of the installation requirement to enable the 4C in IL2 is to install VJoy...after 100's of attempts I still can't get that piece of 3rd party rubbish to install, consistently reports an error in installation, even after contacting Tobii support and trying every workaround known to man. The only suggestion left was to do a complete reinstall of Windows...which I wasn't about to do for a piece of 3rd party software I only required to enable head/eyetracking in one game. I suggested Tobii reach out to 777 software and offer support for a game they dubiously advertise as 'supported' in their software...even though it clearly isn't, either that or bring the required VJoy driver in house and include it in their own installation files.

Facetrack NoIR (which has the required VJoy driver included in it's installation that Tobii couldn't seem to manage) I installed so I could use the 4C in Star Citizen (and RoF)...which has TrackiR support but none natively for the 4C. Fortunately, Facetrack NoIR works in IL2 as well as it does in other non natively supported Tobii 4C titles. It almost got to the point where I was going up in the loft to drag out my old TrackIR pro and chuck the 4C in the bin...Facetrack NoIR saved that from being a reality. I like the 4C, I got it to use in Elite thanks to Obsidian Ants recommendation and it's support in Elite is second to none...but it's lack of flight sim support overall makes it a pretty.... albeit mostly useless... attachment to the bottom of my centre monitor...apart from Facetrack NoIR stepping up and saving it's hide.

That was some really bad luck... I just followed the indicated steps, including installing vjoy, and it simply worked out of the box.

So far my only gripes with 4C were the lack of native support for X-Plane and Rise of Flight, but Facetrack NoIR did the trick.

If you are only interested in the head tracking feature you will be better off using TrackIR (or similar), including better head direction precision and better vertical turn angles.

I picked Tobii 4C because of it's larger set of capabilities (things like interacting with objects by looking at them, or having a flashlight beam independent of where you moving, etc etc), and especially the complete lack of need to attach gizmos or wires to my head. Knowing that Facetrack NoIR would be able to emulate TrackIR for games that Tobii didn't natively support, it became a no brainer for me.

I still can't get Facetrack NoIR to work properly in IL2 either...probably me being a biff with the settings, various filters etc...It works to a fashion but with no eyetracking and boy is it sluggish...when it's not, I tend to get fixed on a view of my seat which is pretty useless...I went back to the default Tobii-less useage of the target locking mode from the cockpit...the way it always used to be in the old flightsims...I can work with that for the moment.

How long ago did you tried to make Tobii work with IL2 ? They release somewhat regular updates to their gamehub app, maybe your issues have been solved in the meanwhile?

I purchased Tobii 4C just a few weeks ago, and when setting it up for IL2 I simply followed the steps in the game hub app (including installing vjoy). Final step, there was this button on the Game Hub app in the IL2 section saying that I needed to press the button "configure" before playing for the first time, as it would tweak the game settings to make eye tracking work. It also says you need to select "Control mode: joystick" in the game options, but I assume you're already doing that.

Aye, I keep the software updated as soon as they release a new version...it's only the VJoy software that's the problem, the configure button in gamehub doesn't work (configuration failed) because the Tobii gamehub looks for an install of the VJoy driver before it will continue....which won't install on my system of course...and I've still no idea why after 2 years of trying and whining to Tobii technical support. They've been very helpful and sympathetic...offered lots of ideas and possible workarounds but none of them have worked to date.

Unless I can get that VJoy driver installed, my IL2 will be Tobii-less..and I'm not reinstalling Windows just to try it. I have zero issues running or installing anything on my system except that piece of third party rubbish that hasn't been updated since 2018 :(

Bought Assassins Creed Odyssey last week for the princely sum of £6.49. What a bargain...
Never been into those open-world explore/quest/rpg style games before. Didn't "get" the Witcher games or one of the earlier A.C. games I tried a few years ago.
But thought I'd try Odyssey because it seemed like a good deal with the discount (it's cheaper than the earlier Origins with the £10 epic voucher).
Really enjoying it - Great graphics/quests/story and it's huge ! Exploring the world is a joy.
Apart from the main quests and story, there's a load of stuff to keep you busy; side quests, naval battles, conquests, mercenaries and obviously the upgrading of abilities/weapons/armour.
Recommended...

It is a great game, to me Origins is even better. The content is absolutely huge, at times even feel overwhelming. I finished it without doing all sidequests because of that. While Rockstar is still king of open world games, I think Ubisoft has narrowed the gap considerably.

I solved the VJoy fiasco by hunting around some random forum quotes...seemingly the guy who wrote the software isn't supporting it any longer..the problem was certification for VJoy hadn't been updated and Windoze was rejecting it...

Anyway, there's a new guy taken over the support for VJoy and had a dowloadable zip file with updated drivers and .dll files to add to the failed but partial installation that made VJoy work. I went in and configured IL2 through GameHub so I've now got the 4C working as intended....it's a bit sluggish but workable.

Great news.

Tobii takes a while until you get the settings to your liking... For ED and driving games I actually prefer to disable head tracking and use eye tracking only to rotate the view. But for IL2 I prefer head tracking with eye tracking extended view.

I'm having trouble getting the 4C to register all axes reliably using the same settings as you are..with the eye tracking on dynamic or extended, seems to make little difference either way...sometimes it won't pan left...sometimes it won't pan right... pitch up and down as well as the eyetracking is completely abysmal and barely workable. I've been messing around with the gamehub settings for over an hour trying to correct it but not having much luck so far. I'm still having to use the in game padlock function to keep track of aircraft :(

Did you try pressing the "configure" button on the Il2 section in Game Hub? On IL2 I use head tracking on "dynamic" and eye tracking on "extended view".

If you don't have issues with Tobii on other games, then maybe the workaround solution for the failed install of vjoy did not work that great after all... :(

It is working...but I only have Elite to compare it to which is very responsive...IL2 just isn't no matter how sensitive or responsive I set it to. It's like I've got a bag of rocks tied to my head.

Here's how the Tobii 4c works in Elite...I want it like that in IL2. The Vid is 2 years old...blast from the past.

You had very bad luck mate...

This is me testing the T4C for the very first time on IL2, with default settings right after install (forgive the low video quality)

I'll have a play around and see if I can't make it work decently...I'll post a vid if I manage it or not. Nice to see another X56 RGB as well :)

I decided to upgrade from my T16000M, because the X56 looks so much cooler and has more self-centering analog axis, more buttons and hats .... Funny that at first I didn't like it, I found it far too stiff, especially the throttle which seemed to stick every time I stopped moving it and required a lot of force to start moving again. I was very disappointed. But searched online and saw many people on the internet saying they had the exact same issues but the problems would go away after a few weeks of usage. So I persevered and the issues actually ended up disappearing completely. And it actually did, now I am completely in love with the X56 :)

I had the Saitek X52 Proflight and upgraded to the old Saitek built 'blue' X56 a few years ago...I routinely took the throttle to bits and scraped a little bit of the sticky grease off the throttle runners which freed it up no end. Did the same with the RGB when I got it...old style peripheral maintenance...take it to bits :D

The old Saitek 'blue' X56 developed a slight drift in the yaw after nearly 2 years of use so I wrote off an email to Logitech mentioning it was still under warranty for another 3 months (at that time) Tech support sent me a brand new Logitech built RGB by return of post since I had registered the old Saitek one on the Logitech website...still have the old blue one in the cupboard too. Can't fault the 2 year replacement guarantee from Logitech, it's how I get spare keyboards and mice too ;)

Edit: I'm just uploading a vid to YouTube which I'll post when it's done (slow connection to t'interweb). I managed to fix the 4C and it's working now as it should...it was my settings.

Came in way too hot on the landing since something shot at me...I was in general freefly so no idea what :D

Excellent! Damn this game is truly beautiful...

Halo 2 came to MCC on PC last week, so I've been re-attempting the Legendary run with a friend. Bugs and issues on console corrupted our attempts previously.

Also remembering that I rather enjoyed the multiplayer in that.

Plus Warframe's new Glassmaker event. Plenty to do in the realm of games lately.

I reinstalled Stellaris today which I haven't played since Apocalypse was released.
Guess the money allocated for some shiny things in Elite got reallocated to the missing updates.
For the time being, I guess I'm gonna blow up squad mates at irregular schedule.
God damn did the last few news deflate my enthusiasm in Elite :cautious:
