As with forums, it's a sample of users. Statistics tell us that samples are representative. There's a whole section of math dedicated to statistics and math couldn't care less about biases - it's just numbers.
On the contrary statisticians care very much about bias. If you have a biased sample you will get biased results.

The VR crowd had hijacked the thread. Stop being so selfish, self centred and entitled. Change the bloody record or get on a dedicated thread. Enough.
I do sympathise with you ..... It must be annoying but for some of us ED may as well be having the servers shut down... I imaging if ED was announcing they were dropping PC support all together because consoles were their majority sales and pc was a niche..... That the niche pc players would probably kick up a stink

You can assume more people are interested in the dropping of VR than playing an fps. I mean there are endless fps games out there and games that are bringing VR into their games. But activity removing VR is rare and that's news.

I would like to see missions where you have to use a small, cool-running ship to get as close as possible to an installation without being noticed, then being forced to go on foot to infiltrate the base (basically the same as data infiltration). Maybe with a nice little minigame to boot...

Any other ideas what could be done with planet legs?

Edit: I prefer to write "DLC" instead of "Odyssey," as that is one of the few words that give me fits trying to spell it. Don't ask me why...
I don’t know what could be done yet but I was encouraged by the words emergent gameplay which I hope means that there is a lot of stuff that can be done without needing to be order around by the missions board.

That would be good, no doubt more information will be forthcoming.

I am more interested not in what the Odyseey showed but, what it did not show. Namely no walking in ships and no infrastructure building, no home location creation, no increased contents on the planets (such as surface lichens, small plants, small never to be caught creatures, no alien ruins contents creating inter-galactic mysteries or search clues, .... Frankly, ED needs to add things into the current galaxy prior to creating more ways to look at empty planets. Totally stunned that almost the entire emphasis in the video is on search and kill activity - basically a dumbed down version of the war games offerings.

so you're putting words in my mouth and asking for a source?

The "secret numbers"... LOL
What? You mean you work at FD?

You do understand that Frontier has never disclosed player numbers right?

I say secret because well, it is.

@Mad Mike Mikethats all fair and well as a claim. But it still doesn't answer my question.

50% of VR users owning ED is not the same as 50% of ED playing owning VR. And you very well know this if you have a basic grasp of statistics.

Crucially, None of us players have the full statistics.

I don't know how big the VR community actually is but that's for sure: FDev seemed to have developed a strange and almost trumponical talent to divide the community, despite all obvious attempts to do the opposite.

Just talked about it with my son last night. He doesn't play ED but is into VR programming (and very positively biased towards VR in general). I've learned that VR in FPS games is very different from static cockpit views, so what some amateurs are stating here, that it would be trivial to "just" make it so, is definitely not true. Sheds an interesting light on NMS; what they have achieved seems quite impressive but anything else than a cakewalk. I have no idea how convincing VR in NMS actually is, I neither played it nor am I using VR at all.
I don't really see the VR users saying "just" make it so with regards to the FPS bits. More along the lines that they want to see the new planetary tech in VR. Maybe I'm wrong.
