To misquote Animal Farm (again) some niches are more equal than others. What a good point, imagine saying there will be no combat in Odessey, or no exploring, no trading. We are all niche players within the game.

I'm not sure what you mean by that but I am guessing you think that if I tried VR I would never be able to play in any other mode.VR would not be the same for you unfortunately. It would be like me using trackIR. Like night and day.
They could port the new planet tech to Horizons. I would be happy with that.I can't see how you will separate both from each other.
Vr only would require everyone without it to purchase new hardware. On the other hand you already have a means to run the game. This is hardly comparableSeriously? So if they made it VR only would you be happy, would you quietly opt out?
I would be somewhat unhappy as I am yet to try and buy VR hardware, I suspect the majority of VR users already have non VR hardware available so are not faced with a hundreds of pounds bill to have access.Seriously? So if they made it VR only would you be happy, would you quietly opt out?
Not everyoneVr only would require everyone to purchase new hardware.
I am trying to be sensitive about your eyesight.I'm not sure what you mean by that but I am guessing you think that if I tried VR I would never be able to play in any other mode.
I can assure you that isn't the case. Visuals are a very low priority for me, which is one of the many reasons I am unlikely to ever make the, quite significant, investment in VR.
Thank you for being considerate, but I'm not touchy about it so go for your life !I am trying to be sensitive about your eyesight.
Oh right, I've got years invested in the game so I see it differently. As someone said previously going back to a flat screen is like going back to an atari. It really was a game changer for me, I could never play on a flat screen. So it isn't a choice for me and many others. Play in VR if you can, turns a game into an experience, you really are in the game.Yep, I'd stick with Horizons, which I only bought two months ago.
I might think about buying the kit to play VR though but I'd have to check it out and see how and if it works and if I thought it was worth the investment.
It is a slightly different situation though. You have both setups, VR and normal, so you have the choice to either right now.
Oooh! I want one too, especially at half price, so stylishI'd only be wanting a VR monocle! So I'd expect it to be half price
Not everyone![]()

I've been playing for about 34 years so I agree we probably have vastly different expectationsOh right, I've got years invested in the game so I see it differently.
I think you should have typed that in capital letters. The VR crowd had hijacked the thread. Stop being so selfish, self centred and entitled. Change the bloody record or get on a dedicated thread. Enough.
OK. Without stereoscopic vision VR wouldn't work. The images are projected onto two screens from slightly different angles to give the 3D effect.
Bad news for Turanga Leela.OK. Without stereoscopic vision VR wouldn't work. The images are projected onto two screens from slightly different angles to give the 3D effect.
I have to disagree . I think NMS in VR is great. I refused to buy it without VR but ordered day 1 the moment the patch dropped. . But to each their own (that said I don't play in steamVR. I never use it if there is an option. Shame it's not native oculus mind youEven with the latest update to OpenVR (yesterday) it is dreadful... Yes it is VR, but that is along the lines of saying VGA was HD definition and colour depth
My only gripe with NMS is that PCVR resolution is the same as PSVR (I don't know why!).
Flat screen NMS is really quite impressive as graphics scale nicely.
Well you still get the head tracking. So you can look around things, you know, see the back of things, which let's face it is brilliant just by itself. It's it just a stereo offset image into each eye?
There was a follow in another thread who said it worked for him and he only has one eye.
Why would I want to do that ?So you can look around things, you know, see the back of things,
VR isn't for you.Why would I want to do that ?
