VR support 'not at launch' for Odyssey

To be honest VR needs an update as well. It not utilizing RTX cards efficiently.

They never took advantage of vrwork and use the tensor core to boost performance.

All needs a serious looks at even without odyssey

I am not talking about the flight model that, I concur, is bad, I am talking about the VR controls for the ships. It is almost impossible to control the ship with the kind of controls Hello games have implemented.
Thrust me, as I have learned from NMS, to have a VR control system that works well on foot and on Ships, you have to accept a lot of compromises.
HOTAS + gamepad would work like a charm

Sure, I see that.

I'm just guessing that given that motion controllers are the industry norm
Unfortunately for everone who wants to engage with VR but doesn't have enough space to be waving their arms about like a maniac.
for VR FPSes FDev will at minimum look into their use. (Even though they do introduce issues for ship transitions etc, for sure. Which NMS etc only solved via extensive additions).

Personally I'd be much happier if they invested in a system which allowed for motion controller use (it's super immersive for character gameplay, and fun for FPS etc), but given the current news, I'm not holding my breath ;)
Personally I hope they allow the use of a gamepad should they ever implement VR in Odyssey as I can't use them.

You just made a post telling me I don't know they aren't giving up on VR .... and then you assume they are not taking VR into the future of the game.

And you can't see what's wrong with that post .... can you?

I can see why you read it like that.

It was a general statement. To expand on it slightly so you can gauge my true meaning: it's a death sentence for VR compatibility in the base game / Horizons further down the road if they don't implement it for Odyssey.

Well once again, they aren't "removing" VR. The base game and Horizons are still active products with native VR options

The main complaint people are making is not being able to use VR specifically in Odyssey which would (presumably) be a different launch option. You would still be able to launch into Horizons, do your usual VR stuff like rattling around in an SRV but you'd have to lauch Odyssey outside VR to do FPS and (presumably but not confirmed) amospheric planets.
And once again, we would be cut off from new content in a game that's already light on exactly that...

I want to walk around in VR, on planet surfaces, in bases and in my ship and do... other stuff.

Would you like to go back to playing the vanilla game?

Did I mention I hate motion controllers with a passion?

You mean like they didn't bother with the PvP imbalance with ship to ship PvP? or the imbalance of ship vs SRV? or how about the imbalance of ship/SRV vs tiny human with jetpack....?

If you like, ay ;)

Although I’d say they made some efforts re ships within class. Asymmetric is a whole other thing.

Player load-outs would in theory be a lot more on par. You can be sure there’d be moans aplenty if any input system was massively, overtly OP. And FDev do dislike a ruckus ;)

Several times ;). I wouldn’t worry, ED is one of the most controller agnostic games out there. Plus a console controller would be the ideal way to transition from ship to foot etc. It’s pretty close to a no-brainer addition. (As part of a spread of options etc).

Don't go putting more cost scrubbing ideas into Frontier's heads or they'll end up trying to erase the HOTAS/HOSAS players next.
