Fleet Carriers Update - Downtime

New to the game but really ancient in development. ETA's are best guesses. The unintended and unexpected are almost guaranteed so the best practice is to use the Scotty method of handing user expectations. Take the amount of time you expect the task to take, add a 4x multiplier and tell your customer that is the best time you can provide. If you get done early you're a hero but at least you have a buffer.

I'm fine, thanks.
Not sure about that. If the roll back and such is going to take longer than the remainder of the update, then I'd press on. Personally I always qualify my update times with "maybe" and "about" and "if everything goes well" and so on and so forth since the bigger the update and the bigger the server farm, the bigger the chance of something unexpected going wrong.

Sometime pushing on is the lesser of two evils.

We call them WAGs not ETAs :)

So 37mins mins from now, servers come up.
38mins from now, servers collapse under weight of people logging in.
I suspect this may be avoided by the large client update everyone will have to download before logging in, spreading out the logins. But that's just speculation.

Murphy lives in the data centre.

Have we got confirmation that there is a client update or is that speculative?

Ah, guess so. Helps if I pay attention huh?

Well it IS 2:38am here, that's my excuse and I'm gonna stick to it.

Also speculation, but it's possible that it's easier to roll-back a client updated on PS4 than PC, which might be why they've release the update on one and not the other.

It's just speculation. But there was one for the beta and they are adding some stuff that wasn't in the game before, so I don't see how they wouldn't be one?

If it works like it did during the beta, the "play" button in the launcher will just change to "Update" without any need for relaunching the launcher or steam or anything so we'll know as soon as it is available.
