I'm getting the message "The game failed to communicate with the authentication server. Please check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes." Is this the same for you? If so, do you know if it's a wide spread problem?
Same here, I can't log in... Getting exactly the same mesaage. Tried everything:
- Log out
- Log out machine
- Validate files
- Update
- Turned off Windows Defender
- Turned Off Firewall
- Uninstalled McAfee Antivirus
- Restarted PC
- Restarted ED launcher
Same here. The launcher says the server is ok. But it clearly isn't.
I really don't think it's anything we're doing. I can log in, but I'm in a busy system and right now. If I try to jump out of it or go to cruise, the system spools up, sits there, and then crashes back to menu. My avatar is adrift in a Type 9, sucking his thumb and watching funny cat videos on Galtube.

Solved! If you guys have the same issue: "The game failed to communicate with the authentication server. Please check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes."
Do the following:
If you have another WiFi at home (like me, having 3 routers because of 1m thick walls), just connect to another WiFi and you will immediately get connected.
If you only have one router, just restart it and you should also connect...

I guess I might try resetting my router(PC plugged directly into it) tonight if it still fails - I just gave up and played something else.
Everything else is working fine from my PC, including the ED launcher to update game ( although the launcher is really bad and annoying for various reasons, not least the fact that when I clicked 'Upgrade' nothing happened, for literally 15-20mins, it's just unresponsive, then finally it switched to show the download / syncing progress bar. )
Reset your router and you will be fine... I was already giving up, just out of desperation, I tried to connect to another router and I immediately got connected, while before, I got always stuck at the message "The game failed to communicate with the authentication server. Please check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes."
As I wrote earlier, I tried everything else, including deleting EDlauncher.exe and having Steam replace it automatically. Nothing worked, but the router reset (or WiFi change)...

Its problem by frontier. I managed to play early morning..for hours, without any problem. And now every one is home from work, the servers cant handle the load. To mayn ppl wanna play and they give us only a hand full of servers.. hahaha this is epic facepalm. and it seems like they give a to handle the load. they probably think it solves from self if they dont wanna play the game anymore because they cant log in

Servers are Amazon - provided by AWS - paid for by Frontier so should have capacity but who knows.
Update from unfinished download...
This evening in about 2,5 hours it move a little closer to 100% but it didn't finished and it freezes again...and as you can see from the task manager the launcher is the only program opened that is using the network. I'm not streaming nor downloading anything else. No pop-up errors.

Commanders, look to the lower right of the screen, if it says there is an "Invalid Machine ID Error" this is how I fixed it.
PSA: Invalid Machine ID error? Fix: Log out of launcher

Can you guys confirm whether the change of router or restart of the router solved the issue for those who kept receiving "The game failed to communicate with the authentication server. Please check your internet connection and try again in a few minutes." message? Or was it only me who got lucky?
