Increased volatility in the BGS -runaway leaders many retreats

And the expansions caused by this haven't really started yet - pending is 5 days, so anyone actually active right now was over 75% on Monday (or earlier) before the changes

Doing a quick check on the state data in the EDDB systems file:
6 June13 June
Faction-system pairs Pending Expansion34768034
Faction-system pairs Active Expansion42334845
Faction-system pairs Pending Retreat32780
Faction-system pairs Active Retreat2111932
Systems with highest faction >= 75%5181925
EDIT: added Retreats as well, where the difference is much bigger.

A few days to get the influence, ~6 days to expand, then there's a ten-day minimum time in a system before Retreats can happen, then another six or so for the Retreat itself. That gives Frontier about three weeks to fix it before that starts to be a serious issue.
Thanks Ian, good to see the numbers go along with the firm perception!

If FDev aren't prepared to do a revert (and I can see why that might be problematic), at least put the algorithm back to how it was . That would at least give BGS players the ability to fix this.

It would be encouraging to know that I could push a non-controlling faction and see it actually go up rather than down.

Dev 1: Hey let's drop this into the carrier beta for testing everyone will be busy playing with their carriers and we'll see if the behaviour is as expected.

Dev 2-100: Naaaa screwit it, its beer-o'clock it will totally be fine without testing, that's how we always do it

It's way too late to fix this with anything other than a rollback. The number of active retreats is just off the charts. The players won't be able to fix that, at least not quickly. Maybe 5 years from now... assuming any BGSers are left to do it.

Well, I suppose they'd also have to cancel all active/pending expansions and retreats. Perhaps a full BGS rollback would be easier. But they definitely have to fix whatever is causing this.

If you see something you think needs investigating, you can help the development team by including the following details in your feedback:

The faction
The star system
The date
What you think is wrong
Canopus region. Five inhabited systems close together, but a long way from anywhere else (beyond expansion range):

Canopus
Exphiay
Synuefe YK-N c23-8
Synuefe YK-N c23-18
Synuefe YM-H d11-84

Two apparently-defunct PMF's, two non-player Fed factions present in all systems, various factions present in 1 or 2 systems. One faction, Exphiay Blue Transport Corp, controls all 5 systems and all 8 stations.

Rapid influence increase in all 5 systems simultaneously. Why? They already have everything, can't expand, and (fortunately) can't force many retreats due to low faction count (mostly 3-faction systems).

Meanwhile everyone else is going down, and the other Fed faction, Exphiay For Equality, is going down in all 5 systems simultaneously.

And it's not as if they're unopposed. My attempt to stop this in just one of those systems was steamrollered, I'm giving up for awhile. Luckily the three-faction rule will (should) prevent a retreat in that case, but I can imagine the carnage across the galaxy where more factions are present.

Don't know if this information is any good to show what is happening out here in the game and not on a test PC in the office.
This and other major problems on these forums are what we are all scrambling to fix, allbeit impossible.
Can we Please have clarification from Fdev what you are going to do ?
At present we have to give up. No amount of BGS will fix this, all we have done the last 48 hours is thousands of points influence work ( which , if you played the game would realise is a massive effort )
In some cases years of work on Minor factions is being destroyed in a matter of days because someone screwed up big time in your organisation.
Please communicate with the player base and at least roll back to prior the update.

The faction - too many to list
The Star System - ditto
The Date - everything after the 9th of June 2020
What you think is wrong - impossible gains all over the Galaxy never seen before.

Tim and community team, for the love of Braben, this is not subtle, this is not a limited number of factions that needs examples or point corrections. It is screwed. Please get someone to look at this, and let us know that you have a roadmap to resolve it and remediate what has already gone wrong. Like others have said, there is no point doing this any more if players can't affect the outcomes. And it's pretty clear we can't now.

I think Fdev hasn't analyze this effect yet.
The only thing we can do is just report issues, (many of issues) and support them by the rest of the bgs players.
We need to make noise and demonstrate that this problem is not a minor one and it requires mor attention by the Fdev team.

Can you please put here the links to the reported issues?

Just for clarity, you are aware that the screenshot shows just one faction, The Coffin Dodgers, pending expanding from a single system, not 24 expansions? Expansion is a global-faction-state so it appears as a pending state in every system that the faction is in.

Please Fdev save our souls and the BGS in the game. The mad influence increase is ruining the game for us devoted BGS players.
It is also interesting that a lot of BGS players have not commented about it on this forum, as the more voices that are heard, something will get done. I do hope they have reported it officially if not here is the link;
