Il2 BoS

I've decided I'm going to have a career as a HE 111 gunner instead of playing as the pilot...apart from landings, take offs and stuff. Nice that there's that option if you fancy it. I remember doing that in B17 the mighty 8th a million years ago, played as a ball turret gunner for the whole game just because I could. :D

That's certainly news about the north Africa campaign and an addition I'd certainly go for. Is it Team Fusion that's doing it or 777 in house?

Aaaah good point, that distinction hadn't occurred to me. It seems it's Team Fusion making it. That it appeared on the main IL2 site confused me (as memory serves).

Not that this is a bad thing, given TFs resurrection of Cliffs of Dover, although it may make the timings a bit unpredictable. Indeed a quick Google suggests that the North Africa expansion has been on the cards for a few years.

It's looking pretty good to my eyes, lots of good looking assets, including the horrible M5 Lee (could have sworn it was called Grant*, oh well, same war I guess). Ugh, what an ugly beast.

e. * I was right - Lee had the US top turrent, Grant had the UK variant. Not unlike the Sherman Firefly. Kinda.

Vid looks pretty good. I imagine it'll be a Cliffs of Dover mod rather than an official expansion

Anyone else still want a Pacific air war campaign? Going back to my days in 1942 PaW here. Loved that game.

Carrier landings were always a bit dodgy....

Some more screenies from Bodenplatte, custom paint jobs etc...

When I think back to the flight games I used to play on my BBC B and Commodore Amiga, these images are honest to goodness amazing. Not long ago CGI for a film wouldn't have been this good.

Wow. Just saying. Flipping wow!

I remember my favourite used to be 'Wings' on the Amiga..loved the plinky plonk piano music and the little story boards :)

Hurricane Mk.II now available to pre-purchase. Mole HD will be pleased :)

Speaking of landings, does anyone here knows the proper landing technique for the german jet Me 262? I can never stop the damn thing in time even when touching down on the very beginning of the runway, I always overshoot the runway by a lot until it finally stops.

Already got it...picked it up the same time as the Normandy DLC :)

Must... wait... for... a... sale... to... buy... IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Bodenplatte - Premium Edition...

...but... ...ME262, P-38, P-51D, Tempest Mk.V...

...wibble.........

I caved in and bought Flying circus...I really do miss the campaign from RoF though...with Pat Wilson's campaign generator. Apart from that, it's pretty, the hit boxes on the planes are a bit tighter and the Germans cheat realistically by using parachutes. I really do miss the early war aircraft though...like my Sopwith pup and Albatross D2...that and being able to carry a career right through from 1916 until the end of the war. Let's hope they expand on it before too long.

Edit: Good news, just checked Pat Wilson's website and he's released a version of his Campaign generator for Flying Circus as well as BoS...top job I say :)
