Il2 BoS

I caved in and bought Flying circus...I really do miss the campaign from RoF though...with Pat Wilson's campaign generator. Apart from that, it's pretty, the hit boxes on the planes are a bit tighter and the Germans cheat realistically by using parachutes. I really do miss the early war aircraft though...like my Sopwith pup and Albatross D2...that and being able to carry a career right through from 1916 until the end of the war. Let's hope they expand on it before too long.

Edit: Good news, just checked Pat Wilson's website and he's released a version of his Campaign generator for Flying Circus as well as BoS...top job I say :)

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist forever :) You clearly love historical aviation, so it's physically impossible to resist buying The Flying Circus.

Love those beautiful historical machines. But like you I miss the career mode terribly. Il-2 Great Battles has spoiled me terribly with the career mode, even campaigns don't feel the same.

I'll go full out and say that Pat Wilson's campaign generator has made a world of difference to Flying Circus for me. It's a bit more faffing about since it's not properly embedded like it was into RoF...but I've got a career mode back which is what I was missing...apart from the rest of WW1and all the early war planes of course :)

Still...being able to allocate skins for all the planes in the staffel or flight direct from the campaign generator is what I liked most about RoF....in this case Jasta 18.
7.5Gb of 4k skin packs for flying circus alone which covers every jasta or squadron active at the front in 1918 including personal paint jobs for the aces...seems like the story of my life since RoF :D

These particularly nasty Fokkers were Halberstadt CII's...for anyone who thinks attacking a flock of bombers is a good idea  I usually try to kill the rear gunners first...

German pilot: "Gunner...stop shooting at that Britischer! He's already shot down 2 of our planes and you're just upsetting him. We might be able to sneak away if he thinks we're broken!"

Gunner: "But Herr Leutnant...his plane is full of holes already...just a few more shots!"

German pilot: "Stop it I say...or I'll wipe you out of the back of this plane by crashing into the underside his Camel!..."

Mole: "What is that Halberstadt doing?...Nooo!"

Tha sad thing is that this expansion should have been released 2 years ago. They are a small team and have pushed Cliffs to levels well beyond it was at when Oleg released it, but no VR yet and very slow development.

Being new to IL2 and CoD it's taken me a while to realise that this expansion has been a long time coming and could yet take some time to come to fruition. I think it's admirable that they're doing this in their spare time, but it does rather make it a 'file and forget' item.

[...must not buy bodenplatte... must not buy bodenplatte... must not buy bodenplatte... resist... resist... resist... resist...]

Just wait for Normandy instead of Bodenplatte...as good as Bodenplatte is. Normandy has the Mosquito, Hurricane Mk2 and Typhoon Mk1

;)

But if you buy Bodenplatte you will have a map to fly the Tiffy, Mossie and others when the aircraft are released. The Hurrie is a separate "collectors" aircraft which should be released "soon" :) Normandy wont be released this year :(

Neither of you are helping me resist!!! :p

Mind you... Normandy not being released this year is a fair point....

One thing I think I should really wait for is another sale.

You're in luck then, the fabled Steam Summer Sale has started just under an hour ago, and almost all Il-2 BoS DLC are now on massive sale:

HURRAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick question - which do people prefer Stalingrad or Kuban? At £20 for the premium package they seem to be a steal!!
