Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

CIG looking for a lead producer who has shipped at least 2 games.

CIG to date have shipped 0 games.

Yes... i can see why they would like to hire someone who knows how to ship games.
Hang on. What happened to the original lead producer? Did they quit? If so how come ppl like BoredGamer haven't mentioned anything about that? OR
Perhaps they do need said experience because they're genuinely close to shipping a MVP beta of SQ42 after all?

You won't hear that from BoredGamer...since he's a bit of an Uberfanboi. Try the Noobifier, he can be a bit more objective...sometimes.

We don't know if this is a new role or to take over from someone who left or changed position.

Most likely the 16 year old senior producer who was in charge before has now been promoted to the board of directors or something.

Also, is this more fuel for the speculation that CR has been pushed aside or trying to get out? What is the point of having a lead producer role if everything is still being decided by Chris?

LP: "So, we need to focus on getting this finished now"
CR: "No. More fidelity!"
Wouldnt the game rather need a creative director to design the game? Not much sense producing a thing that isn't properly designed.

No no no, they need highly-skilled plumbers for the pipeline!

I think part of the problem is CR acts as creative director, but the creative director needs to be subordinate to the the production manager. This is the wrong way around at CIG, therefore the production manager can't say no to the creative director when he starts waving his hands around and saying Fidelity to everything.

Ok thanks. Is Salt E Mike (formerly Twerk? I think?) fairly decent as well?

Here's his latest review on SQ42. He seems really reasonable and well rounded i.e. still cautiously optimistic while not coming across as bitter, sarcastic or combative in delivery.

Hes still arguing and trying to deny reality even tho the cracks are showing. I m not taking him as a serious or credible source of SC related information. I remember all his fanboying or shilling too well but I check in from time to time in order to see "how far" hes gone. This is one of the guys whos not going to take it well once this things goes pearshaped.

Oh yes, you can, for years already, even. It needs VR, but it's actually in-game:

VR in ED, is one of my greatest gaming experiences. I stood up in my room at home and could walk around my cockpit, even look at the legs/rear of the seat in great detail. Coming up in the hanger lift into the interior of the space station was fantastic. I recommend to anyone going out of their way to play ED in VR. Unfortunately SC has put VR on a very distant back burner.

:)

Is that unusual to hire a lead producer at this stage of developpement?
I guess it is but...
Reading the job advert above, It seems that they have more than one person in this role so I'm not sure, is it a new role in Manchester or a replacement for a leaver? We would need a look at their management structure map to know for sure. This role reports to the Production director whoever that is. You guys who look into this deeper than me, do you have any idea where this job is the the CIG structure? That is the only way we can see if this is, Bad, really Bad, normal business or a sign of Doom.
