Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Speaking of multicrew, I think DE achived a multicrew experience in Warframe which is not even a space sim. I never really bothered with in Elite and SC only have turret gameplay either shoot or mine which is not a lot in my book, esspecially if you consider our Conman promised a lot more features.

I know that SC community often try to insult ED but I though that this community had a wider point of view. In the end you demonstrated to me that you simply hate everything about SC and it seems a bit excessive to me. I don’t understand why some of you thinks that ridiculing me would bring more facts to your arguments. I think my mistake in the end was to believe that this community is different but you have the same extremism..

Meanwhile, exactly no one who has followed these threads for any length of time will have been surprised by the arc of your posts. Starting with trying to teach us about the state of SC and citizen-splaining how we don't understand the game and game development (never mind whether we're OG 2012 Kickstarter backers), various examples of confusing dreams and aspirations with reality when it comes to what SC offers right now, deflecting criticism by taking irrelevant jabs at ED for its own flaws, not being able to tell the difference between people attempting to set the record straight and "ridiculing" you, and then spontaneously combusting in self-righteousness and complaining we all "hate" SC. You've pretty much ticked all the boxes.

In fairness to Matty, I redirected him here because he was going full-bore SC elsewhere. He may not have been expecting the wall of critiques that occur here.

That arc of ducking factual discussion by diving for the 'just haters' headspace is a familiar one tho yeah :/

. “We have begun modeling work on what we are calling the ‘Pyro Crab’. We don’t know what the future holds yet for this asset, but we’re excited to work on it.”

So, they are working on an asset but they don't know why or what its for, but they are excited about it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, CIG in a nutshell.

Also, loads of fluff there, but half way down we finally get to gameplay

June saw the Gameplay Feature Team continuing work on the player trading app, which is now in the art phase. “We are happy to announce that players will likely see the base functionality in our public test environments very soon, with the hopes that the art pass will be complete for live release soon.” – The Gameplay Feature Team

They also put significant time into the upcoming Alpha 3.10 patch and the ability to purchase ship paint from in-game shops.

Player trading app in art phase! Tier 0!!!!

Purchasing of ship paints is gameplay???

And why is it almost always Space Crabs?

We've had Thorshu Grey's in fishtanks, taking over hangars and exploring procedurally-generated handcrafted outposts for years now.

And the other one is a Hoth monster. Much originality.

Time to list the status of the "heads" of this mess?

  • Chris Roberts: last seen in pillar talk in april 2020, but looks like it was shot the same time as previous PT released in february
  • Ortwin Freyermuth: never seen, because he's the shadow man :)
  • Erin Roberts: wasn't nowhere to be seen even prior Citcon 2019, allegedly lead of SC now (instead of SQ42)
  • Sandi Gardiner: wasn't nowhere to be seen even prior Citcon 2019, allegedly cherrishing her handbags and acting
  • Sean Tracy: last seen in the June 26th Calling All Devs video. Working on ToW
  • Tony Zurovec: last seen in a Pillar Talk, annoying CR ?
  • Todd Papy: regularly seen in videos, now in charge of SQ42
  • Eric Peterson: out in 2014, allegedly for family/geographic reasons
  • Rob Irving: out in 2015 to join Peterson's Descendant studios
  • John Pritchett: out in 2018, allegedly for geographic reasons
  • Ben Lesnick: out in 2018, allegedly still in, working from home
  • Jared Huckaby: regularly seen, too much for our own good though :)
  • Mark Abent: last seen?
That's an amazing list if true and I'm surprised its not being more widely discussed, especially if they are currently looking for a Lead Producer. Incidentally for those not in project circles, this is an equivalent role to a Programme Manager - you're basically managing component discrete projects with their own Project Managers. The games industry likes different more "hip" terminology, because they are supposed to aspire to be in the Media and therefore need "special" creative titles (something CR was partially responsible for....sigh). It also looks like CIG and whoever is actually in charge now, is looking for a White Knight to come save the SQ42/SC/ToW product set and as rightly pointed out, is a role that sits between executive C-Level positions and Project Execution. They're going to have to sell a lot of Idrises...errr Idrisi? to afford someone capable and inclined enough who'll take that on.

I also saw mention of another publisher/developer coming along to save the day. Given the current situation, I would expect an EA executive for example to observe a metaphorical dumpster fire and decline the opportunity to pay to drag said burning dumpster into his house to see if it sets fire to it or not. He might come back once the fire's gone out and pick a few choice items out of the ashes when nobody's looking, but most burnt dumpsters are only going to contain burnt trash...

Its not a Hoth monster. Its a space bear.

CIG love bears.

For me atleast the disappointment is mutual. I didn't expect you to go to the same conclusion as pretty much ever SC fan who came here. I've been reading thses threads for a long time and if you went through even teh last version you's see a few people talk about SC in the exact same tone. In the end, when their claims had been proven false they always claim what you claimed.

At this point I'm 50/50 about SC supporters. One part of me waht peole to see CIG for what ti is, but another part of me thinks they deserves it.

Didn't SC fans used to say ED ismilkng it's players for selling paintjobs while SC isn't for selling spaceship jpegs?
Isn't SC copying ED now, and STRUGGLING to find it's own identity?

Can someone explain to me the CR connection to bear?

I'm torn because as a gamer I have been fooled by snake oil industry figures. People who believed CR deserve what he was supposed to sell, but at the same time I feel like the writing has been on the wall for awhile.

My personal feelings at CR and his tactics of charging people huge sums for what is in the game (Or supposed to be) make me root against him and what he stands for. I don't wish people to get screwed over and fleeced though. A sweet space game is good for everyone.

I remember seeing funny stuff from them but the forum was locked behind a pay wall.

Yeah it migrates in and out from behind the paywall. There are some interesting regulars there. Bootcha (the ex-CIG-investor making the Sunk Cost YT series), TheAgent with his bag of possible leaks. Guys like that. And then a ton of clowns, archivists and networking experts. Lots of whom understand game development ;). (It’s also been a catwalk of ex-CIG devs at points seemingly).

When the internet was just getting going I think they had a website with hilarious articles. I wanted to join the forum a couple years later but not enough to give out my card info. My bank account got hacked ordering car parts from a website, I was very paranoid after that.

I appreciate everyone sharing stuff from there especially Agony. Its almost always high quality / hilarious.

If you dig down you will see the inevitable dig at ED, because you need to compare to something you think is crap to make SC look good in comparison :D

Also, for some reason, the mods have stickied this thread...
