Ah, well, i suppose i didn't want to believe it, but yes, apparently asking where Chris is doesn't actually get a considered response but instead respondees focus on the person asking the question.

Oh, and another one. Top answer is they'd rather have him focusing the game. Well, not sure that is a solution. CR actually paying attention might be worse. But then, does this mean the poster was not happy with CR appearing on videos all those years? Or if we went back through their post history we would see approval of CR's appearances? Not going to go digging, but to be honest, i think we all know the answer without looking. And no consideration that CR might be absent for reasons other than him being busy with the game.

Even if the people starting those threads are skeptics or refundians, the responses show the backers are doing Ostrictch impressions on this, rather than also calling for news of Chris. Sandi dissapeared from the public eye and none of them asked CIG where their head of marketing was. CR, the face of the project has been absent for months, and still they don't want to ask about it.

I'm beginning to think if CIG stopped all communications i'm sure there would still be some who would respond with "I'm glad they are focusing the game rather than spending time talking to us"... in the most open development project evah!

First a claim that CR is coding the server meshing. Now, that's the first i heard about that. I heard he was reworking the physics engine and that his rework was already in with 3.9 based on a dev comment.

Then later, another faithful member tries to say CR isn't coding, he's more of a product manager, which flies in the face of what CR said at the whale dinner last year.

It would help if the faithful knew their own canon.
 
It was discovered (IIRC, due to CIG exposing data to the public) that one of their "internal" system had forum members tagged as things like "snowflake" and "troublemaker". Forget the details but someone might be able to provide.

I've recently raised an issue with CIG via Customer Support and when I logged into my Request I was quite surprised to see that my account is flagged as the following:
  • Grey Market Trading
  • High Maintenance
  • Snowflakes

In the same way he became suddenly very "busy" with Freelancer over 20 years ago

Too many naratives. It's SC's strength, so many voices they never bothered to correct, they can cherry pick the best response even if it's contradictory. It shows how little tell their CUSTOMERS about the game, if each one could spout out whatever he/she think SC is. So much for the most open development ever.

SC is so open nobody knows what role CR actually does. We could actually run with the CR coding server meshing and then blame all the server fail on him, qouting the poster of course.

But since they make up whatever they want to believe (something they accuse skeptics of as well) they can simply declare that CR's code hasn't made it into the live build yet, but once its in it will be all rainbows and unicorn farts.
 
Every year or so I try starting up Star Citizen to see if it's playable yet. Last time I gave up after horrible frame rates and being launched straight out of bed into the blackness of space

This time it went much better.

I actually get decent frame rates now. I did fall through the floor once, but that was after playing for a couple of hours. mostly it was pretty stable. I think there might be a good game in there somewhere. But at the moment it's hampered by bad design decisions.

The UI is horrible. In every other game I just hit one key to open a door. In this I need to look at the door button and hold F while I select open from the menu. Why???

You need to eat and drink, fair enough, you need to take your helmet off to eat, again fair enough, but why do I need to hold F press right click and navigate through a menu to take my helmet off? it should be one key press. They seem to be making things awkward for no good reason.

I tried some missions. I only have a starter ship as I'm not prepared to pay real money for a better one. Trying to win a fight in it becomes a massive exercise in tedium, I just can't get the enemies shields down. I run out of ammo after about 20 minutes and have to bug out. So any type of combat mission is pointless.

Investigation missions. That sounds interesting so I fly down to a cave to find a missing person. unfortunately the clumsy movement controls combined with small hard to navigate cave makes this hugely frustrating and I bounce off rocks instead of climbing up them and get stuck. Eventually I found a body, but then had to suicide myself because I was stuck in the bottom of the cave.

Searching a derelict station in zero G was OK. A bit disorienting when you bounce of a wall and it spins you upside down. I think if I'd played in VR I'd have thrown up.

There are some good points though. flying down to planets is really good, the atmosphere and weather effects make it much more interesting. Doing a package delivery to an outpost on an Ice planet in a snowstorm felt like I was taking supplies to Antarctica. Very atmospheric running from the ship to the outpost in poor visibility.

TL;DR is graphics good, gameplay bad?

However, i hear there is now a keybind for removing your helmet.

But poor you, a starter ship. Yeah, that's a hiding to nowhere.

If this game ever releases and they don't make some changes, people buying in fresh with just a starter pack are not going to have a good time of it.
 
OK, you can bind a single key to take helmet off, but it was unbound by default. I'll let them off that one

I seem to have a Freelancer as well. I think it must be a free loan thing, Didn't use it yesterday but going to try doing something with that today
