I won't go back as they moved to East Coast US servers only for my region and the lag from Australia is really bad. In it's peak it had an Oceanic server but those days and the game population to support that has long gone.

Hasn't it been f2p for several years now? Or have the increased the offering for f2p recently?
I played it heavily in first few months of release, but dropped off after levelling a few characters (mix of a bad guild and lacking endgame content).
I've popped back once a year or so, I think my main is a few hours into the Fallen Empire expansion.
Reality is though this was never much of an MMO. It was a single-player (or co-op at best) with some social functions added on.
I originally left when the Starfighter Combat expansion came out because it was such a crushing disappointment. Just wanted something more like Jump to Lightspeed, than just a PvP arena. However, I went back last month and started play through both the knights expansions and doing other classes (I only completed the Jedi one before).
Surprisingly, I'm really enjoying it.
