What is the lore explanation for why some ships are better "data runners" than others?
They are equipped with server racks, which take a considerable amount of space (there are some on the Caterpillar too, in a side room). Only these ships can do data running at all, or so is the promise, as at the moment as i said it's wasted 3D assets and what could be cargo space instead.

They come with pre-installed PemEx memory-doublers and can carry 160GB of data.

Because that's how creative CRobber is.
I thought you'd say " some have less memory issues than the other"

Anyway, one doesn't need server racks to carry 160 Gb of data, you can put 4Tb of data in your pocket. Seems like things were quite different back in 2011...

It is...nothing else much to do once you've finished collecting ships that have no purpose :)
Why, you can wake up, get up from your bed, don some clothes, wash your teeth, commute to the office. Get killed by elevator.
Or you can wake up, get up from your bed, don some clothes, wash your teeth, commute to the office. Get killed by the doors.
Or you can wake up, get up from your bed, don some clothes, wash your teeth, commute to the bar, order a drink. Die of old age waiting for it.
The variety of activities in this space sim are - just like the development of it - endless

I wonder how the mods feel when faced with this stuff on a daily basis...as has been the trend with Spectrum for quite some time. The negativity isn't coming from some random newbies either, a lot of the posts within those that slate SC are from long term backers not to mention concierge, ETF, whales...

Chief Technical Officer, aka the guy who decides that no, let's not upgrade this month to enforce security compliance becase he doesn't have a problem figuring out clever passwords and ensuring that no untowards apps run on his compu... WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY KEYLOGGED MY PW AND INSTALLED A BOTFARM USING A MONTHS-OLD VULNERABILITY THAT WAS REMOVED FIVE UPGRADES AGO!?

Compare and contrast IT Ops guys who have to fill in request forms for clearly mandatory upgrades in the vain hope that the execs will approve them this time, and then clean up the mess when they don't.

I have seen the other extreme of that where if security is mentioned in the patch etc it must go on asap. For most it is not an issue but some lead you to disaster if applied without other remediation work. You then have to go cap in hand to say please sir can we delay a bit to sort out all the related stuff first so this change doesn't blow up the whole system.

PS. You get the mandatory patching security exposures is essential (to them keeping their job) lecture each time.

Jared did mention that "players physicalized inventory" is "scheduled to come online later this year". Unless I'm missing it I don't see that listed on the roadmap.

"Borrowing" the inventory map from Neverwinter Nights, which is basically a placement puzzle, and calling it a "physicalised inventory" probably doesn't sell enough immersion chariot jpegs.

Also said "later this year" for cargo decks, instead of the more specific "in 3.11 at the end of the 3rd quarter". which is in 2 months. 🤣
