Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

With all SQ42 updates
That's a bold statement.

What we discovered after the whole piece was finished and getting ready for publish was that our approach resulted in an underwhelming show. Not only did the episode have major audio issues due to WFH recording, but it lacked visuals to support the talking, and we truly prefer to show rather than tell. Ultimately, we decided that it wasn’t good enough to show, even for a “scrappy” video that was not meant to be a marketing sizzle trailer. However, before that “stop ship” message could permeate our entire marketing org, we had moved forward with a public publish date.
So basically they spit call some ideas and marketing started bragging about the new video, then they couldn't deliver and started pointing fingers. They have a whole marketing organization!

...called “The Briefing Room,” was a lower-effort video...
nuff said aboutthe who company.

Originally, we thought we could simply splice in fresh b-roll...
Falling back to their usual routines.

Reading that long message of an excuse I feel so dirty for seeming like I care about SQ42.

The new Roadmap will focus more on breaking out teams and features so you can interactively see what is being worked on across all teams, as opposed to what features will make X release.
So in other words, they still won't have a roadmap, but will compensate by spending artist time on prettying up an incorrectly managed kanban board. They have no ability to forecast and they have no idea how to plan anything. But they do know how to skip from chapter 1 to chapter 49 in a “lean for dummies” book.

One of the important elements to messaging Squadron 42 updates has also been to raise awareness that work completed for Star Citizen is also work done for Squadron 42. The only content that’s exclusively SQ42 are people, places and plot – and we don’t want to spoil those.
Good news, CI¬G: it is entirely possible to put tasks on a list without explicitly stating the name of specific NPCs or places, and without listing plot points. You can use complex alias-and-number systems like “Arena 4" and "Boss 2" or “Chain 12b” instead. You don't have to spoil anything if you know how to manage a project management tool.

But you're just too incompetent and dumb to do that, aren't you? Not enough imagination and creativity in the whole company to come up with such complexities. Oh well…

I wanted to melt my ships (315P Explorer, Constellation, M50 Interceptor, Aurora LX) and get a Caterpillar. However, I can't buy it in the store. I thought it was out already?

Even the excuses don't cut it anymore. The good spin doctors and snake oil salesmen have left the ship.
True, but it's your fault - you haven't bought an Idris.

Actually, as I haven't bought it, maybe it's my fault.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure if we all buy an Idris, Holy Roberts will forgive us and let us back inside the Dream

Try the grey market, it won't allow you to upgrade so you'll need cash...you won't find a Caterpillar in the store due to the senseless policy of artificial rarity. Either that or wait until November and the end of year sale that isn't a sale. Be warned...they only artificially rarify ships so they can hike the prices every few months.

But...the easiest and cheapest way to a Caterpillar is to keep shuffling those boxes in game... 4.6m aUEC at Teach's ship shop in Levski :)

I m surprised the latest flurry of reports and videos havent been posted yet. Is the positive fluff footage drying up?

Kotaku with yet another "going for the throat" hit piece: Even Star Citizen Fans are getting cranky about Squadron 43

Massively overpowered with a rather small statement about SCs (lack) of development progress, I doubt it ll even get comments

And Inside Gaming beating the red headed stepchild yet again but truth be told I think they are rather well behaved

Is this the global hate for Star Citizen acting up? All the people with envy and bitter lives trying to kick downwards to feel good about themselves? Most news outlets seem to ignore all the wonderful gameplay and visuals Star Citizen has to offer and only focus on the ugly things...how petty of them. No wonder the world is in ruins if this is the average human behavior demonstrated....just hate on innocent, well-intended, totally-not-a-scam indi projects.

I think its rather the logical consequence after letting this carcass lying around too long. It starts to stink and even if you try to ignore it....the smell will reach you without drastic steps on your part. I m sure SC fans will raise objections pointing to all the nice, new and super fun stuff you can now do but if nobody else picks up on that, chances are....these new, fun, super fun things are not as new, fun or super fun as the fans think they are. The bartender for example doesnt really scream "superior AI code allowing awesome things" and the same goes for the currently existing gameloops. Sadly enough the prison gameplay has been SCs latest major content update and it doesnt look like CIG followed up on that in any way.

I m also sure that if CIG would have any video material they would just show it. Regardless of its quality. Star Citizen is pretty well known to push out patches and even live video demos in horrible states so with the current pressure from the community and raised eyebrows of the greater news world CIG would show whatever they got. If they dont, the list of possible reasons for that is pretty slim pickings.

This SC fan (enabler) is a good example of someone finally having enough. It sounds pretty tame and he describes himself as optimistic and being "okay" with how SCs development goes but he absolutely bashes SQ42, something he self-admittedly doesnt even care about. I guess its just a pressure vent from his rising frustration that he seems to be unable to admit. With this kind of mechanic going on (german term would be "Kurze Lunte" not sure if "short fuse" would be correct term in english) its no wonder that the SC community produces such a toxic environment.

You are really angry at CIG for their shortcomings or lies but you cant put em on the stand because that would risk ending your dream so instead you lay out all your anger and frustration at the next target piping up. And here comes the innocent bystander daring to ask questions, not showing the proper level of respect and with a few short questions laying bare the dark ugly morass for everybody to see. Oh yes, this guy is gonna get it for sure. Its HIS fault, people like him, simple haters, despicable sad human beings. Some people have received threats of violence over speaking their minds. I dont believe they are frabricated claims. With the level of vitriol and toxicity I can witness myself I m pretty sure physical violence would have errupted by now. Because of a frustration that is born and fostered by CIG and people know this....some just refuse to admit it.

So many games just....exist and keep going. Providing entertainment to those people who enjoy whatevers offered. Theres a really large list of games, highly rated and considered "good" that I am simply unable to get into or draw any enjoyment out of. I dont bother with them. I dont focus on the games that are not my thing. Pretty much every game on the market receives scathing posts or reviews from individuals who behave entitled or personally offended by something the game does or doesnt do. Its the spectrum of player reception and usually these extreme reactions are rare and dont really affect a games overall rating or reception. People make up all kinds of things in order to discredit games or "hurt them" but most of the time the game itself defends itself because of what it does. None of em needs this "protection" that Star Citizen receives and that people have admitted to offer when they start posting here. Worse, while discussing the topic it becomes more and more clear that all the fabrication and "intentional interpretation" only goes on in the pro-SC camp where people even after years of confirmed lies, failures and shortcomings have utter faith and keep hoping for the best possible outcome.

The most common defensive reaction is "but I m having so much fun" meant as a justification and primary argument to win any encounter. But its hollow and this far in shows additional levels of information probably not intended by the person making the statement. It could relay that you are new, unaware of CIGs rocky history and of course, the new generations dont care about the hardship of the previous ones as long as they can benefit from their labors. It could be a benchmark for the intensity of self-delusion that is at work to allow the vision (especially when claims of professional expertise or similar is stated). It could also be a concession of acceptance when you realize its a dead horse and it also stinks like one but you take it as what it is and try to glean the most out of it. You are stuck with it anyway right?

At this point of time "I m having so much fun" really has no informative value whatsoever in regards to the projects quality. I wish some people would understand that. If they did they would realize how hurtful it really is to the project rather then helpful. Not trying to impair peoples right of self-expression but some wonder about the level of "attacks" they receive when they make that statement as if this place doesnt allow fun to be had in Star Citizen. Nope, thats not the case. Its simply unimportant in the course of discussion surrounding Star Citizen which is.....is the development making the right choices and is Star Citizen shaping up to become the game that was being promised back in 2012?

Certainly doesnt count for every skeptic, doubter or critical person but I believe the people who really care about the project are the ones who speak out against it or dare to point to flaws and mistakes. People who go on the barricades against attempts to be shut down and who keep going even when punished. If all you do is to accept everything, disregard the bad and only see the good and you "protect" the project from any criticism because that could hurt it somehow....you are nothing else then an enabler and in part responsible for the current state of Star Citizen. Yes, there are a lot of people who by now seem to have a personal bone to pick with Star Citizen and its community but this again is a creation and effect started by the very same community that now suffers from it. There really is noone else to blame.

Its correlations and synergies that dont appear on peoples radar who just take a look from time to time or pass by because of some flashy screenshot somewhere. But I m following this project for 7+ years now. Knew about it longer but its that long since I got involved emotionally by investing time and effort and it allows me to recognize Star Citizen for the monstrosity it is today...and also to understand whats going on with people who might be completely unaware of what they are doing.

All i can really say after watching that video is now i have a strange urge to send some letters and parcels using Stamps.com.
