Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Continue like now because I have already fun.

I think this is why CR was confused those years back when he was asked when did he expect to reach the big 1.0 and he replied something to the effect of we are already on 2.something

Star Citizen is already a released product.
Everything you are getting now is just free content updates.
"Alpha" is just part of the title of the product, not a pre-release pro-word.

I can't think of any other alpha or early access game in which such events are organised :

So, this is interesting.

From CIG's filings in Feburary for CIG UK.

First thing of note is that Sandi is not on the board of directors of the UK company, but she is (or at least was) of the UK company.

Aside from CR, ER, and OF, there are two additional board members. One appointed by Infatrade (a loan company) and one by Indus Management Ltd, and i can't really find much info on this. I'm not sure either of them are related to Calder. The investor designee is Daniel Offner.

Also of interest is that if anyone can no longer serve as a director, CR gets no say in their replacement. Erin gets to choose OFs and CRs replacement. Ortwin gets to choose ERs replacement.

What is interesting for me are:

As i read this, it basically means Directors can (with agreement) claim any salary or other form of payment. A nice way to extract money from the company.

Kieth Calder is apparently only an observer

Interesting, so since that is by "Investor", it means there is a link between Indus Management and Calder.

Who the hell are Erloch UK and ITG? More investors?

Interesting, shareholders have no rights to see the company financials

This last bit is very interesting for me. While in general shareholder meetings, % of shares does affect voting power, it appears to my non-legal eye that things are different in meetings by the board of directors.

Now, i'm not sure if somehow 7.1 trumps 6.1, but one thing is clear. In meetings of the board, CR does not hold absoloute control. 6.1 requires a majority, so if 3 people vote against Chris, then he doesn't get his way. 7 seems to indicate that all must share a common view for a decision to be passed. But that might just be legalese for it to be termed a unanimous decision. 6.1 says decisions should be taken in accordance with 7 though.

Wish things were explained in plain English.

Anyone with real knowledge in this area clarify it?

Sandi still shows up as an active director for Cloud Imperium UK Ltd.

Unless it's a completely different Sandi to our beloved Handbag Lady of course. This one was born in the 70's.

While they say they are happy for CIG to take as long as they need, they won't make the logical leap required to understand that to do everything they have promised will literally take decades and with a burn rate of over 50 million per year, they are going to need billions to finish it. Billions of dollars from backers.

There's also the uncomfortable truth that technology and the rest of the games industry aren't sitting idle while Roberts spins his wheels. Every few years the AAA bar rises, the industry embraces new technologies, and CIG has to "refactor" half the game just to catch-up. Saying "they can take as long they need" is meaningless when the target is moving more quickly than the development.

This is fine

Is it correct that the cargo box missions have changed and now require visiting multiple places to collect 3 boxes and/or multiple NPCs to turn in?
Yes it is. 3 times the chances to fall through the planet, or have the mission fail in multiple ways due to bugs, 3 times through the still not fixed and still not working properly quantum travel navigation, 3 times the chances to encounter a 30K, 3 times the fun !

CIG are goodest at gameish designesque.

I will fund (max 50 €) and give goodwill to EVERY project with good graphics, the scope of SC and a minimum of seriousness. I have fund SC and I've bought ED when I've heard about Odyssey. If you know other serious projects with good graphics and the scope of SC, I will fund them too.

And I don't met other project with ice-cold calculus and skepticism... I don't know where you have seen that from SC backers. The Odyssey news have been mainly a good news for them because having competitors to SC is a good news for all.

Not sure why you assume I was talking to you or about you with that statement.....

"Scope" is quite an ambiguous term. Why do you think a game that hasn't been released yet has more "scope" than those other titles you mentioned?

In other words, could you clarify what you think scope means?

Every scam in history had one thing in common. Unbelievable scope or potential. So much so that people got involved and rooted for those projects unwilling to give up or stop supporting out of risk ot threatening the possible payout/reward. Scams promise everything and all they need is a little trust, a little time and lots of your money. They will pamper and sweetalk you in order to make you feel special ("the pledge" anybody?) but all they do is wasting time and trying to get as much money out of your pockets as possible before they are revealed as the scam they are.

As I mentioned before. I got the wool pulled over my eyes just the same back in 2012. The scope was breathtaking, it was beautiful and it was exactly what I wanted at the time. Over the years CIG demonstrated to me that they are lying, delaying and generally being dishonest about anything. The results would only enforce my suspicions. 6 years after the supposed release date things have become comically absurd with a video game company stumbling over basic stuff, being unable to clearly communicate the issues or reasons, ship sales are predictable the most reliable thing in Star Citizen and that even tho we got told they have more money then needed already (by multiples....) and the whole thing started to smell like a scam years ago for the very obvious reasons that make a scam a scam.

Continue like now because I have already fun.

Exactly the answer I would have expected :)

Exactly the answer I would have expected :)
If you ask a gamer why he plays a game, the main reason is often "because I have fun".
And if you ask him if he will continue to play the game, the response is often "as long as I'm having fun"
It's pretty basic no ?
I will stop playing the SC alpha/beta/release the day it won't give me any more pleasure.
That's not new for me, it had happened to me before with other MMO I've invested massive amount of hours (T4C, Everquest, Anarchy online, Ryzom, Planetside and Eve Online).

Explaining what exactly I mean would break a number of forum rules but if you really want to know I can offer to send you a PM about it.

The conclusion from your answer is pretty "basic" or rather obvious as I said, only you dont seem to see or want to see what I mean or maybe you do which explains this post of yours.

And I share the gaming experience you rely on. I too have played, paid and enjoyed most of the games you list. And the experiences and facts I gleened from those times help me immensely to form a coherent and realistic view on Star Citizen based on what it actually is.

Kinda the same situation here. I just wanted a proper Jumpgate remake. This was the closest it would be if we stayed with the initial KS goals.
