for painite don't even use pulse wave scanner. just fire prospector limpets into each and every asteroid most of them have painite.

Truth is, it's been a moving target since fleet carriers were release. The people over at Reddit r/EliteMiners have a good wiki and a research project going, but it may a while for answers about what the patches changed, and those answers may change if FDev does another patch. Patience is required.
It's worse with LTDs because the canonical resource (Google) is returning top-ranked pages and videos that are now essentially worthless.
I tried this twice in a Cutter, the best being about 125t an hour. I keep the white dot in the center (like in your picture) move toward the edge of the A ring (planet side) and move very little from side to side. Seeing low teens to high thirties mostly with low or med content. Every now and then I will get high content.For miners looking for a good Painite spot.
Hyades Sector DB-X d1-112 2. Target the hotspot closest to the inner ring (stay between the two hotspots) and try to come out of hyper at around 2.55Mm, then mine towards the locked up hotspot. If it takes you longer to mine 200t in a little under an hour, you're way off. 50% - 60% are constants.

Sorry! It wasn't a reference picture for where your ship should be when you're inbound to the hotspot. Here's a better one. Red dot is where you should be shooting for. Sorry for the confusion.

Is ya paying attention to demand?
As Mercury7 said, the demand level matters. But currently the demand for painite remain artificially high after a sale and doesn't drop like it does with LTDs. That's why it's better to mine painite right now that to mine LTDs.
I think Frontier should treat all the commodities the same way and stop making one commodity a money party versus the others at various points in time.

Yes, I do check demand. I do not know if someone else hits the market before I get there or a a FC rolls in and unloads. Either way my last three trips turned out bad.
Did have a good run last night, checked the demand with https://ina ra.cz/galaxy-commodity/ and found a FC with good price and demand close to the mining site.

My sell point is my own carrier. I'm wiling to be lazy, and not greedy. 
Yes, I'm parked 10 light-years from that wonderful Hyades Sector DB-X d1-112 2 double. I can mine lots of other things, besides painite.
The target is the center of the overlap, or slightly closer to the inner one. I can mine 280 tons/hr of all commodities, half of it painite.

Hope you don't mind me asking. After returning to the game, I don't really understand the significance of a triple hot spot (3 x overlapping locations???). Does this just mean higher chances of locating valuable ore - or is it more than that?
