🐨 Planet Zoo: Australia Pack coming 25 August, 2020 🐨

Also, I'd totally be down for packs being revisited to include more species. The Arctic Pack could use 1 or 2 extra critters like the Arctic fox and Musk ox but SA and Aussie could have massive future additions to their roster of beasties. I could name many but that would be boring.

Thank you! It looks great for tropical forests 🄰

no problem, the trees with brown bark in the first 15 seconds looks like Grevillea pteridifolia which I am super hoping they are, they have the characteristics with the yellow flourishes emulating the yellow flowers of the grevillea tree. This is an extremely popular and common plant where I am - also very popular with the native birds and bees ;)

Oh good call on grevillia! I was wondering whether they were wattle trees. They do look like grevillias.

I saw Emzia on Twitch streaming the Australian DLC today. Was this allowed? I saw the other creators like BestInSlot and Delady say they were told to hold off showing footage until Tuesday. Emzia insists she had permission but I was just curious if this was true or if she was breaking an nda.

Seems she's deleted one of her VODs from today so perhaps she realises she's messed up (or did it intentionally, who knows?) Can't imagine Frontier would be too happy about this if she did stream it.

Really? It is a bit harsh, and rather silly, to say dingo is a bad choice any way you put it. I personally think it is a great choice for an Australia dlc to have a dingo. Many others agree. Just because something isn't what you like doesn't make it objectively bad. Just makes it something you don't like, fair enough.

I explicitly said it was just my opinion.

Australia developed a very unique fauna due to the continent's long geographic isolation. A unique feature of Australia's fauna is the relative scarcity of native placental mammals. Consequently, the marsupials occupy many of the ecological niches placental animals occupy elsewhere in the world.

The Dingo is a lot of things, but not unique. There are many more adequate animals to represent Australia

This is why I think the dingo is objectively a bad choice. If you only have four options I think I would have gone with an emu, a marsupial - a Tasmanian devil or wombat - or a monotreme like the echidna.

In australia the Dingo is also a domestic animal. Have you ever seen a german sheep dog or a house cat in a Zoo? I dontā€˜t think so. But in Europe we have 29 dingo groups in captivity.

So now that the new biome is revealed, I wonder if we could get an answer regarding the map availibility. Will the new map be possible to play in challenge and franchise mode or is it strictly sandbox?

If it is sandbox only, is there a possibility to have the map for all modes in the future? :) I only play challenge, and I would love to have Australian Zoo in the new desert.

Indeed. In terms of choice, I place it between the Arctic wolf and the llama.

Some people may keep dingoes or dingo hybrids as pets, but they are not domestic animals. Not pure dingoes, anyway. It's the same as someone owning a wolfdog. In addition, pure dingoes are actually endangered and are being pushed out by hybridization with domestic dogs, as well as human culling. Also, evidence seems to suggest that they migrated naturally across land bridges from Asia to Australia during the Pleistocene over 18,000 years ago. If that's true, then I hardly see how they're not just as much a native species as any of Australia's other native fauna.

This might prove an interesting read to some: Link

Any way you look at it, someone was going to be disappointed with the animals included in the pack, no matter which five animals were chosen. Is it a shame that more fauna wasn't included, especially when dealing with such a unique and diverse continent? Yes. But it's not possible to please everyone, especially with such a limited roster.

Great great great DLC!!! ā¤ā¤ā¤

The most exciting for me so far. So many new animal models and so many great scenery and beautiful plants šŸ˜
And the completly new biome!
This is just completly insane 😁😁😁

The only thing that I would crave for is actually the DLC’s releasing frequency. I would be more than happy to pay 3,99$ for a new animal every month. I don’t know why they won’t just produce as many downloadable animals as they can.

Kangaroo looks just perfect and I’m more than happy to have them.
The cassowary and koala are wise and iconic choices also. We can’t forget that koalas are the best ambasadors of australian fauna in the world and even they are really still in movement I don’t mind having them in the game.
I personally hoped for the emu but we need to remember that cassowary have more interesting coloration and better fit in the conservation aspect of the zoo.
I don’t support the idea of having dingo included since it is just a feral dog in the end. But I really wanted to have Dhole for my asian part of the zoo so the dingo would substitute for them. I will probably never get Dhole since there are so many more other interesting species from South Asia that we are missing like Clouded leopard, Malayan tapir, Banteng, Binturong, Babirusa or Gibbon.

As for past DLC’s:

I was really missing the musk ox or mountain goat in the arctic DLC and also wasn’t happy with Arctic Wolf. I thought they could include the polar fox or even better the wolverine instead. Arctic Wolf is basiclly just the same animal that we already have but it’s white.

With South America pack I was really happy with all the animals. Especially the Anteater and the Jag. Although I would definitely preffer guanaco or vicunia over llama. But the lack of Capybara, Manned Wolf and Peccary made a little sad.

I also think that one day they will release the mods tool and we will get every animal we crave for. We just need to be patient.
