General / Off-Topic Sayings and phrases.

I find I'm using 'Not at launch' a lot more these days.

"You going to fix that broken thing you have been promising to do for ages?"

"Not at launch."

"Big day tomorrow, Laurence (for that is my real name) I need you to man the inbox and make some calls, can you do that?"

"Yes, but not at launch"

"Do you have a Nectar card?"

"Not at launch".

It's really working for me.

So what are some of the nice sayings or phrases you know?

Norway has a ton of really funny ones:

  • "Being left with your beard in the mailbox" - This means that you've failed to accomplish what you were trying to do and you may have made the situation worse.
  • "Buying a cat in a sack" - You've been tricked or been grifted
  • "Things are going in the direction of a hen's kick" - Usually said when someone feels like things are going poorly for them.
  • "There are owls in the moss" - Something is suspicious or not how they should be.

These are great.

A dutch saying that puzzled me until it was explained.

"Hij heeft het onder de knie" which literally translates as " He has it under the (his) knee".

Obviously what that actually means is "He is a master at it"
