Take my advice and ignore this, they'll turn you in for trolling.Stop worrying about being polite and clearly communicate what you mean. You're just wasting everyone's time.

Aren't we taking this too far if you're inferring game play Jeff? Same thing some other Spear clowns can't seem to get passed. Separating role play from reality. You are judged by your actions, and there are consequences for that. Sometimes it's positive (you make a friend), sometimes it's not (you annoy the wrong person & it escalates).
So wait - what he actually said was "you're making things go wrong for other people... in the way in which you do, within Elite."Oh I'm quite sure he meant PVP, BGS player factions, Powerplay. Don't you think?
You think he meant seal clubbing and "being a jerk"? Is being a jerk something to aspire to?
This is probably the best rationalisation so far though. Braben supports being a jerk, we can prove it with a video where he ... doesn't say you should be a jerk. Conclusive.

Literally won't. Try me and see.
Ok, I'll try it a bit slower Jeff. If you're equating playing a game and taking things too far and escalating (consequences to actions whatever you're inferring) then I think you have a major freakin problem. So in effect I do understand, I think it's pathetic. As to bitterness, I get you like to build huge flippin strawmen. My advice would be to leave them in the field. They have not place in discussion or debate. So I will remind you again, I am far from bitter and it will take much more than a little ankle riding to ruffle my feathers.Sorry who is taking what too far? Are you calling me Jeff in-game, or IRL?
Do you also not grasp that actions have consequences? Or is it that you do understand, and are just bitter about the consequenses of your actions?
Can I impose upon you to satisfy a small matter of curiosity to me ? Was my inadvertent tardiness in sending you a DM about mercenary work in any way related to the change in perception you've had towards my motives with this thread - seeing it now as some big sham "troll" effort - and then following that with the decision to label me a "tool" for actions about which, just a few pages ago, we were having what I thought was a civil discussion?Do you also not grasp that actions have consequences? It's a friggen game.

Because I was sincere in that interest, and I went and chatted it over, last night in fact, with some friends. We were keen for the idea. That keeness has, for obvious reasons, faded. I'm sure it's no loss for you, you clearly have things sorted. But it would have been a neat collaboration. Kind of a pity, in my book, as I was looking forward to the prospect. I'm sorry I didn't send the DM sooner, but I won't bother now.
no, the vast majority doI recognise that some make a distinction
Thank you for the nice post. I appreciate that, even in a game so life-sucking as Elite, there are folks who can keep some perspective on it.Keep up the good ganking.
This almost reads like some veiled threat - purely implied, of course - of doxxing being a "consequence" for naugty playstyles? I do know, anecdotally, that there are people who have gone to those lengths against those with whom they've found disagreement over this game.Maybe some potential employer makes the connection to your online persona, or maybe you gain a following. These are consequences. If you are not concerned about the consequences why should anyone be concerned about how you feel about their judgement of you?
no, the vast majority do

You try to bear in mind the notion that a player will doxx you or otherwise try to harm you, as a person, in real life, for decisions you have taken in a video game?Yes I do too. I try to bear that in mind when I interact with others. Do you?

I'm starting to really believe that the toxicity in this game is far deeper than unfortunate design choices about play modes.
Why live in fear?
