People sometimes just want to be left alone, some of us sometimes, others always. This is also in the nature of the game, in its original spirit: to play a lone commander lost in the vastness of space. Some love the game for that very reason, while others hate it for much the same reason.
And now it's your turn, my friend: tell me, why do you seem to automatically associate gaming with social activities? I understand why sociability could be the highlight of your playing. What I don't understand is why you seem to have difficulty recognising other preferences...
I have no difficulty recognizing others preferences. What gave you that idea?
I have no problem with understanding why people play the way they play, I just enjoy hearing the various reasons why.
I have a very hard time staying interested in MMO's without having a community to play with but I don't need a social aspect to be interested in every game.
My favorite games of all time are the Metroid games, with Super Metroid being my favorite game of all time, and the MechWarrior games, which are all single player games.
I've been playing multiplayer games since the original Halo and have been very competitive with every multiplayer game I've played since then.
I then got into sim racing games where I fell in love with racing against people online. I race cars in real life so sim racers allowed me to race and be competitive all the time.
Elder Scrolls Online was the first MMO that I really got into and I did so because I had a bunch of friends to play it with and eventually got into the larger community and loved it.
For the first 1000 hours of my Elite Dangerous career I only played in PG with about a dozen of my racing friends but eventually got burned out and gave open a try, despite my friends telling me I would just get ganked all the time. I then found the PvP community and the rest is history. Having done almost everything the game has to offer, except for long term exploration, there's nothing that really keeps me interested other than PvP, the community and helping others.
