Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

If they want the Neil Armstrong moment then the only way you do that is to enable walking from the pilots seat to the surface of the planet. Intriguingly this is one of the pieces not set in stone for EDO. Interestingly this is also a point where current VR ends and the logical point if partial VR was to go into EDO to transition out of it. The problem they have is the huge number of ships needing to be enabled for that transition.

Ignoring the VR aspect, the way I would do it would be to enable it for free in the Cobra Mark III, it's a small ship that is iconic to the franchise. Then over time you add the other ships as payable add-ons. If you are flying a ship without the add-on you simple transition via a fade out to the planet or SRV.

The other approach would be that you transition from ship to SRV and the Neil Armstrong moment comes when you exit the SRV.

The other possibility of course is that the VR issue has caused them to review what they are doing and therefore the potential VR touch points are up for discussion as they consider whether to put it back in.

Umm.. wrong thread?

Just wanted to point out how obsessively pathetic it is to mock someone because someone completely else but with a similar name has a job. It isn't just an issue with mistaken identity, its the very concept of tracking people online in the hopes of 'catching them' doing anything other than their official 9-5 job.

This topic seems to be filled with a few people interested in Star Citizen/SQ42, and plenty of people who desperately need to get therapy and support to deal with their issues surrounding Chris Roberts. This is getting dangerously close to stalking behavior...

Owch. Quite a shortcut but not totally untrue yeah. But if, to begin with, he and shills hadn't placed himself as a perfectionnist visionnaire obsessive micromanager, the one and only able to create a BDSSE, working his craft overnight on the physics engine (without any grasp on what's concept like momentum), and wasn't MIA since months with spouse and brother, maybe - just maybe - we wouldn't make fun of him.

Are you insinuating that our Chris Almighty doesn't have one? :D

Oh sure, not defending him or the project in any way. But you know what they say about gazing into abysses... ;)

So, you're saying we should have no interest in trying to find out what CR is doing considering his presence from the project appears to have been lacking for over a half a year? We're talking about a man who was very visible for 8 years going radio silent.

Some backers might take it on faith that CR is hard at work refactoring the code and doesn't have time to even congratulate backers on splurging over 300 million, but from a skeptical point of view i'd rather try and see what he is doing.

And damn right, i don't think he should be doing anything at this point that isn't directly beneficial to the project. Backers have given him over 300 million and investors have also invested tens of millions. Even if you want to claim those who are not invested shouldn't be seeking out such information, the backers should be very interested.

So, where is the roadmaproadmap?

It's not every Joe's 9-5 job. Robbers is a public figure potentially embezzling millions of dolla of naive pleshers. It is of public interest when he takes the money and runs. Or admits he blew it all on hookers and booze.

It is fine if people want to know what CIG has done with the money, what their plans are, what they want to do and when and so forth. But every single individual involved in every single computer game development (even if you think the game is really really really special and important!) is fully entitled to having their own time outside their job, and the freedom to do with it as they please. If David Braben wants to chrochet little chairs for kittens to sell on Etsy that is his call, and not even those who really really really hoped atmospheric landings would have been released by now have any business with that. If Sean Murray wants to paint pictures of elderly nude models that is, again, his call. Even if you really really want the big worm to appear in the game. And, hold on to your hats folks, if Chris Roberts wants to spend his free time co-directing some documentary (which he didn't, but hypothetically) that is again his call. Even if you are upset about the development of a computer game.

And people like Agony who claim CR should spend every second awake on 'things directly beneficial to the project' are just completely and utterly insane. This is not normal and we should not pretend this kind of obsession from a supposed adult is normal.

And yes, CIG and SC/SQ42 are poopypants. I know that has to be repeated in every post here if you slightly push back against the insanity, just like you have to post your undying support for the project on reddit if you have some doubts. There you have it, I said the magical words. Now lets cut slightly back on the crazy if that is okay with you all. :p

We know nothing about this game  appart it might be a RPG in space...

We know some things, but it does seem that space flight is 'merely' a means of travel and not the center of the game as it is with ED or supposedly CIG. If I had to gamble I'd say it is closer to NMS, but with the crafting/survival loops replaced with more traditional Bethesda elements. Think a blend between NMS/Mass Effect/Outward. But who knows, really.

No, I disagree. Robbers has to be held accountible where the money went and what Robbers does when he doesnt put his back in for the 300+ dolla he collected. That's what public interest is.

I dont get it.....this is the Star Citizen thread right?

So people search, discuss and argue over SC related information. I think theres nothing weird or strange about it. So when the CEO of the delayed overdue alpha project suddenly goes missing without any kind of explanation (illness, vacation, running with the money) people take notice. Chris Roberts has a right to his private life but he also has a responsebility to the project and the people who paid him. Asking questions or trying to find an answer is "stalking behavior" now? Its not like people want a 24/7 bodycam or any possible detail of his life....just a quick update about what hes doing and if everything is okay.

Chris had no problems in the beginning to come out and interact. Granted he hasnt been visible all that much since he was able to take his minions money for granted and can do whatever and be showered with moolah for it but still when it comes to unrest, near-riot and revolt of his backers he usually made sure to come back out to pacify the sheeps. I m not a fan of his and didnt give him money and even I would like to know what hes doing. Mostly because the answer would allow for conclusions regarding Star Citizen and its future.

I share your sentiment only with reversed roles. A select few in this thread desperately need therapy and most of the forum members are simply interested in SC and SQ42.

Like Kruger Dunninger there is a level to this kind of thing. We all do it but depending on how much we do it one could call it "being over-confident". Only when we really start to convince ourselves of a level of expertise we dont have and look out for examples and scenarios that further support our assessment disregarding other views and information can it really be called "Dunning Kruger Syndrom".

Stalking is the same thing. You wouldnt call a mother looking after her children a "stalker" would you? Or a friend trying to find you when you go missing? We all take an interest in others and depending on who that person is (spouse, friend, random person on the streets) become curious or make some kind of effort to figure out things. Stalking behavior is a medical condition that is so extreme that it endangers peoples health. I wouldnt throw it around as light-hearted as you do but sure....if the posts in this thread trigger you this much even tho I would ask myself if I m not a bit "too deep in" if I felt the need to lash out that way.

But on that note....I m constantly on the look-out for signs if I m not too invested in this emotionally because nobody wants to be a stalker but usually the stalker is the last one who gets the memo. So far I routinely check into this thread, read up on stuff brought up and sometimes find the will and patience to sit through a few hours worth of game streams to keep myself up-to-date. The walls of text I write are nothing special in regards to myself and when I sometimes do something extra (like the GameStar article translation) I feel like I owe the topic that much in return. Now there are people who religiously follow SC and it doesnt matter if thats out of positive interest or not. Its far more extreme then what I do. Especially when you come into this place to "fight the good fight". And under that light most people are pretty chill about SC but a few really border on stalker territory agreed.
