Question for Open players who don't like PVP/ganking... help me understand

This is the BGS soap opera I was talking about.

It's like coming in part way through season 47. No idea what's going on, who is involved, or what they're talking about... but it's still fun to watch :geek: :ROFLMAO:

lol my post directly below was written at the same time ;)

I didn't know whether you were a part of this or not, I guess not :D

P.S.: Carcosa is currently not the best place to be for peaceful Cmdr's
Why not?

Surely you upstanding citizens would use a KWS on somebody before opening fire, right? So if I'm a peaceful CMDR with no bounties on me, and I most certainly am, I have never fired upon anyone unless they fired upon me, I have nothing to fear from you, right?

If not, why not?

No, you don't need to "warn" me against the threat from less savoury CMDRs than your noble, flawless selves, I'm a big boy and know the risks, but surely I shouldn't fear the actions of the "ATR", or should I?

You don't get to tell me where to go, nobody does, and if you CHOOSE to punish me for minding my own business, hurting no-one, in systems of my choosing, then it's on you, just as a random ganker CHOOSING to shoot me for whatever reason he uses to justify it is on HIM, and you can save your sermonizing for somebody who cares, because I most definitely don't.

Don't start none, and there won't be none, as we say where I come from.

Disregard this and, whereas I may very well not be in a position to finish it, I'll do my damndest to make sure that you know you've been somewhere. And you and your friends should know that you're not exactly doing a great job, PR-wise, here. I'd normally find myself aligned with you guys due to my play style. After the above from you, I'm becoming less and less sure of that.

Peace out, CMDR.

Hello. This is a really long, but interesting thread. What really amazed me, is the continiousely ongoing or recuring pro and contra discussion about moral and playstile with nearly everybody over everybody else.
o7 CMDR and thank you very much for your chiming in here. I've heard a lot said about SPEAR, but very little said by SPEAR themselves. I am just as new as my forum join date (which I just figured out how to see recently) indicates. If you've glanced through the thread you've probably gotten my backstory, and I hope understand that despite my choice to play as an outlaw, I still consider it a purely in-game thing. And that I'm a fan of those who choose the lawful side, because I think that adds richness to the game.

I know you all at SPEAR have your means and your methods and I've no doubt that someday I will be on the receiving end of same. That's quite alright by me, it's part of the game and I will welcome it the same as I've welcomed everything thrown my way so far.

Again, just want to say thank you for your contributions here and that they are appreciated. If you or anyone else from SPEAR would like to take a moment to talk about your philosophy and/or motivations at greater length, I'm sure they would enrich the discussion here.

On the other hand, the type less, fly more maxim is one I support 100%.

Thanks again CMDR and as you say, see you in the Black.

In this game I find that more palpable and advantageous then some arbitrary concept of deciding who's good and whos's bad. But that's just me

That good & bad are a matter of perspective is not unique to this game. Most of history was written by the winners, who naturally will have painted themselves in a positive light. The game allows us to play with that concept, although of course we can read both sides and probably realise that it is not so black & white. Both sides do things one might abhor, and even the idea of there being an outright winner or loser is blurred, because that depends on which point in time the observer chooses to end the list of events at.

In the end the griefer's code is to make the opponent not want to play any more. I have done that to others, and arguably my reaction to their attack was disproportionate. So I understand when others attempt the same to me & stuff that matters to me, and deal with it. Win or lose. And I renamed the ship that most often appears on bounty boards "Proportionate Response" to remind myself that those who I defend against believe I am the baddie ;)

Not only do you build some pretty solid strawman arguments, you've also wandered out in the weeds, left field.

Seems like the white knight code is to label anyone a griefer or grefer (sic) as I was today. Best part, never killed a PC....yet....So is there a raffle for this label? What promoted these guys to be the Justiciars of Elite? Again, I await for your well thought out and rational response since you've taken up the mantle of being their mouth piece.

I removed it, thanks for letting me know
I would hate for you to get griefed by a white knight for associating with riff raff like me.

Well I haven't called you a white knight or a griefer, but if it bothers you so much perhaps consider what caused another to think that of you, and maybe modify your behaviour? And if it doesn't bother you, who cares?

Likes on this forum are free and I dish them out pretty readily. That you made comment of it suggested it was a problem, so I removed it again. It is not a big deal to me, but it seemed to cause an issue.

Whether you are bitter or not, try not to be bitter. So many are.
