There's a few around, Squirrel's videos are easiest to follow for me. He's a bit like OA, soothing voice...If you can follow the process then remember that when you're faced with the Garmin in the cockpit...where my failing seems to be. Translating that to various versions of ILS systems too which vary from aircraft to aircraft...I can set up the Garmin for autopilot almost successfully but haven't tried an ILS landing yet..even though I've roughly worked out how to do it....that part needs 3rd party flight charts to set the ILS frequencies...Skynet ( I think the US one is called) or similar.

Squirrel is obviously very good at what he does, but I also watched an (earlier) video from that A320 pilot you linked above. Very informative and pleasant, he does sound very "pilot-ey" indeed haha.

The ILS frequencies can be found in the world map. It's not necessarily right out there in the open, you have to filter in navigational aids and then select something other than VFR in the left dropdown list at which point other navigational points appear (including ILS markers where they are available), and clicking on a marker gives you the frequencies.

I've had varied success doing ILS approaches / landings. Managed a bunch in the 152, but it felt a bit glitchy, and in a couple of cases the nav aids just seemed to stop / disappear before I actually landed. Not managed a successful ILS approach in the 172 with the Garmin yet. Set it all up with the frequencies, but didn't seem to have the navigational aids in the screen working. Could well be user error, so I'm going to try again later, probably at a smaller airport (I used LAX ) with less available frequencies.

Another day's work at Volcanair, keeping geo-tourists happy since 18th August 2020...

This game is absolutely amazing.

While I'm enjoying the game a lot, in all seriousness this is still beta. Real weather is utterly broken (wind and temperature, OAT was 23C at 17.3k feet), the region I was flying at (NW Yunnan, China) has its ground textures all over the place, and otherwise nowhere near the accuracy of terrain compared to Google.
I think it will need years to mature. Not an issue, as I preferred it to be released now rather than later, just an observation.

How are you CPU limited? My 7700k is only 50% loaded when my 1080ti is maxed out at 1440p, at absolutely reasonable framerates. Very occasionally I get couple of seconds of stutter when 50% suddenly jumps to 100%, but otehrwise I have no issues despite playing 'live'.
OC aside, low hanging fruit to improve the CPU performance BTW is to 'unspectre' (there is an app that is called like that) your CPU, i.e. disable the protection against a pretty unlikely targeted attack.
I had a look at the InSpectre app on my wife's PC which is running an i7 6700k...seems the CPU etc are running quite happily with the Meltdown and Spectre protections enabled. I might temporarily disable them just to see how much it gains... then I might actually try it on my own PC 🤭

I'm not telling her I tested it on her PC...celibacy, bruises and starvation don't go well together...

I did that the week I bought this PC, since forgot all about it. I should check it again just in case a Windows Update rolled back my settings. I don't know that it would make that much difference for most of my games, as almost all my games are GPU bound, but hey, I'm all for freeing CPU cycles! If nothing else, it'll help my little laptop run cooler :D

I went to Antarctica last night to do some cloud surfing and the terrain was literally growing and malforming as I was flying over it. Sometimes growing into spires I would have to dodge then shrinking. It was very strange and equally fun and satisfying. But yeah early days obviously.

Is anyone else having an incorrect heading indicator warning popping up every few minutes while flying? No matter how much I try to reset the gyro drift, the thing won't go away, I had to disable notifications altogether for now to get rid of that...aside from this minor gripe, everything looks a soothing experience as any good Flight Simulator has always been. Did a couple more flights around and above my city during both day and night, then after discovering that landing at night on an unlit airstrip is both extremely difficult and an extremely imbecile thing to do, I tried my first planned route with the 172's Garmin. I haven't the slightest idea about how any of that works, but at least following a purple line looks easy enough.

At first launch the game determined my old banger was apparently fine enough for the high-end preset at 1080p, I didn't touch anything (yet) and indeed it seems to be coping pretty well, for flight simulation standards at least. Daytime flying from A to B over the city and the countryside under moderate real time cloud cover was absolutely enjoyable, but the little trip I did into Ultra land was an absolutely humbling experience. There's only so much an i7 4790 and a GTX 1060 can do 😅

Not a lot in it but here you go anyway:

So they're concentrating on install issues for this patch. Makes sense I suppose... it caused a lot of frustration and refunds. Was hoping for more, but it's early days.

I disabled them. I don't store sensitive or any important info on my PC, and I'm not anyone with a high profile either. If my PC would get wiped out, I'd only lose photos - but again I have most of them stored on another, disconnected drive too. :)

Not so good for existing owners I grant, but excellent news for those still (eagerly) waiting. I may wait for patch two or patch three, and let a few more bits and bobs get sorted out. This has the added benefit of allowing more time for my shoulder, neck, chest, head, spine and leg to improve.... it's been an 'interesting' couple of months for me. Well, what I remember of it.

Yikes... doesn't sound good. And aye, the game isn't going anywhere and will still be awe inspiring in a year or even five years time. Make sure that applies to you as well, because that's more important. :)

Yes this is happening to me as well.
