Whoa

If the script and spreadsheet are correct then there are only 510,038 backers, and of them 58,380 are concierge+ spending-level (10% of the total).

10% of backers being whales puts an interesting perspective on things.

Was just thinking, since CR says he treats backers with the same respect as a publisher, do you think when Microsoft came asking about the state of Freelancer he wrote them a long letter telling them it wouldn't take another 10 or 20 years and they should stop being meanies?

TBF, roberts is responding to this:

What you, Chris, describe in your comment would take at the very least take another 10-20 years.

so saying it wont take another 10 or 20 years isnt that odd.

It isn't odd considering he's still prattling on about overly complex systems that require them to refactor stuff (again) and saying is still early alpha.

The more the man speaks, the more you get the feeling that it will never release.
I don’t know, I honestly think they are doing that s*

Yes, let them pay for my game

Well, you best hope so. Still early alpha, still in need of funds.

If we assume a burn rate of around 50 million per year, people are going to have to keep ponying up for a few more years to come.

But then, what happens if SC actually releases. They promised at that point to stop selling ships. Will they? How will they keep brining in that much money?

They think upon release loads of new people will buy in, which would mean even more money being spent on servers/infastructure. That's going to add to the operational expenses, significiantly.

Would not surprise me in the slightest if they had no actual business plan for post release.

just tried Gamedec demo, it's a cyberpunk detective cRPG where you investigate stuffs in video game worlds, in the demo that your character started there's an environmental interaction that present you with in game video games that is described as the biggest space sim ever that is already released but still in development, your character apparently have invested in several spaceships for that game, then there's a description of a virtual brochure that apparently sell new ships with real life money in the game.

everyone is taking jabs at sc in these days.
