Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

So basically you want me to buy, sorry pledge, $45 for what appears to be a buggy mess that's exceptionally poorly managed in order to find out if it's worth spending $45 on? An ever expanding list of deliverables with no time frames and seemingly no feasability studies! I would have been out on my ear if I'd run a project like that.

I'll wait till (if?) SQ42 is released.

Sorry, I m a bit grumpy today. Just got back from a holiday that I didn't want to end.
It’s free to try untill the 23rd, you still have time to make up your own mind on it. Since you’re asking, sounds like you’re interested.

As the fan contingent mentioned, it’s free to try at the moment. (Just be aware that they gift you '100s of $ worth' of ships to soften the grind, it performs badly even on crazy rigs, and it needs to be manually removed from your SSD with a hammer afterwards ;))

Remember kids, the first time is always free.

If a game is so awesome, it would want to be released so it can be in the hands of willing buyers.

When a game has to sell itself to you with freebies, constantly market itself as if it is the year 2945 and there are a million billion star systems just waiting for you to explore in a living breathing universe full of life like NPCs that do more than just stand motionless on chairs and in corridors, maybe that game is not really trying all that hard to be released.

Ask yourselves why that is.

PS - Anyone who works for a company with such practices cannot pretend to be ignorant of them, let alone what goes on internally.

I am pretty sure CIG can deliver "something". Heck, they could just release the current PU version and declare it SC official release version 1.0. But that would be a very incomplete and broken far cry and a complete joke compared to the hype and BDSSE claims we have had to suffer for the last 8-9 years.

Pretty sure CR can also similarly launch whatever they may have for SQ42 at any point in time, and that would be most likely a very pale shadow of the promised AAA game, "as good or better than anything out there".
No. Chris needs to grow a pair. Swallow his pride and release #$%&!@#! SQ42 already.

It's the least complicated of the two deliverables he promised 8 years ago ie. zero server issues, multi player complications on game performance etc etc.

That would at least silence the critics temporarily as at least ppl would be (trying) to play it. While he buys himself precious time to create another road map metagame strategy

It a classic class in a lot of FPS. You can do a lot in gameplay to give support advantage to support class. For instance, atm all armors in SC are very limited in the number of medipens.
Dear sir, we are talking about SC here, which is claimed to be BDSSE, not mere FPS. That would be, as Vasious said, Space Marine.

So CIG will never be able to deliver SQ42 ?
Now, what is deliverance anyway?

That a lot of backers have real fun in the alpha ?
Dear sir, haven't we established that SC is not very fun?
Just like hoop rolling. Because if we didn't, see hoop rolling.

No, for the whole alpha

That is a disappointment
Classes by any other name if you need to wear certain armour to play a support role.

Given the modular inventory system and all the different arm ur designs and styles it undermines the options and flexibility if you have to pick arm out based on an assigned class it unlocks

The best of games of Arma where were the classes were removed in lieu of equipment and load out.
Everyone could carry spare med kits for the designated medic and a spare belt for the SAW
