Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Sure, as long as backers keep the funding going, CIG continue to exist. If backers stop buying spaceships though, then CIG will be living on borrowed time. How many more ships can CIG sell to backers? Its an important question.

However, i think you totally missed the whole point of my post, which was a joke reference to two things:

1) What happened to CR with the development of Freelancer

2) Backers disparaging big publishers combined with trying to spin everything as being good for Star Citizen.
Whales gonna be whales, let them fund the game I enjoy, what we know now is they are putting in more money than before. I don’t complain.

Sure are, but it’s still in alpha

Yep, that’s one of them

Oh, and sorry if I don’t respond to everyone, I actually like the discussions here, but if you come out with something positive, the dogpack comes in in full force for whatever reason and I’m not constantly on this forum like most of the guys that go hard here.

There is a funding page on the site, they have more than 500 employees, they are still running. That’s a better guesstimate than the bull manure we read here.

To be fair I do not think "better guesstimate" than whatever you prefer to use to compare can quite cut it either. CIG´s own released info has shown lacking quite often. Hugely so in many cases. Here you have one of the latest examples suggesting CIG´s own published info is probably as unreliable as any other rumorology you can find here or elsewhere. Similarly there is so far no evidence either that CIG´s statements about their finances are anywhere as accurate as we would like them to be.

For example and as a start the financial info lacks fundamental standard reporting elements such as a balance sheet for the parent allowing you to see things like debt outstanding and other liabilities etc, or an actual auditor sign off following recognised procedures and without which it is hard to ascertain the actual validity and source of some of the figures, among other things.

I do not doubt they indeed have cash inflows. But with the incomplete (and more than likely very biased) info available so far is really not possible to determine there is "enough cash flow" to avoid any kind of loss of control (partial or full) in the project at some point as you suggest I am afraid.

That’s the thing, so much speculation, seriously, personally, I don’t care. They are still going, I like what I see, let them do their thing. That’s how I think about it. Way too much conspiracies here.

"rather than give data that could be processed "
Where have you seen the tool doesn't give those infos ?
Right in the presentation. Nothing of any use was demonstrated. Only a massive waste of coder and artist time.

"dots moving around" are useful in MMO when gamemasters manage big events.
These are not game masters. This is not an event. It's the game designers setting basic parameters that will drive the entire game world. These are things that are done by spreadsheets, preferably by an actual economist.

Anyway, there is no need for a buyout, CIG has more than enough cashflow
There is nothing to suggest this and a lot to suggest the exact opposite.

I just don’t get the obsession here,
Have you tried not being obsessed? Or medication? Or just reading the thread, where you'll notice that the “obsession” you obsessively return to only exists in your head.

There is no need for a guesstimate when we have CI¬G's own numbers, which have consistently shown them operating at a significant loss for the last couple of years. Hence the need for the constant loans, for seeking new investors, and for selling off larger and larger portions of the company that backer money built.

The only actual fact we have at our disposal is that they have consistently not had enough cashflow.

Damn, top lawyer, developer, economist and psychiatrist. You must make mad money

Its the question imo. I dont think anybody thinks a game is due for release soon and one reality glance at accounts sees they have 6 months operating at best of year, sometimes a lot less. This is normal and the 'turnover' is usually provided by something being sold, a product or service, how long will the customer base keep spending for what they are getting?

Its against all logic, its more a religion, but there is a tipping point as the potential customer base is limited.

Sorry that reality isn't on your side. Attacking the people telling you this only further highlights how you have nothing to bring to the conversation.
Says the guy who attacks everyone that dares to have “fun” in the PU. Whatever man, there are a lot more enjoyable people to talk to than you. You do you, have a nice day.
