One thing i've noticed a lot with games that are remakes or successors is they lose the magic of the original by trying to "improve" on them, by adding more complex systems,. whereas it was often their simplicity that made them such good games. They didn't have much, they didn't have the resources, so they tended to focus on doing one thing very well.

CIG have taken this to stupid extremes with SC by promising the game will be absoloutely everything and contain just about any feature imaginable. CR spent over 100 episodes of 10ftC saying yes to practically everything.

Its no wonder that some people believe its going to have everything they ever wanted. Its also no wonder that the game is stuck in development hell with no release date in sight.

Yep, but that usually applies to stuff from the nineties. Elite's gameplay it too simple by modern (and even 2012's) standards.
Anyway, Braben explicitly declared his intentions from the start and did stick to that, so we got what we were promised, and that's a good thing.

Yeah, he knows his business, limiting the scope for release, rather than trying to include everything.

But my usual example is Chaos: Battle of the Wizards vs the remake Chaos Reborn. The remake has more advanced mechanics, including things like terrain height advantages, equipment, optional alternate rules for resolving combat, a campaign mode, better graphics, and more... a lot more. But i'd still rather play the game from 1985 than the remake from 2014.

You don’t understand the value of these ships. It has more advantages then I could count. Look every dollar they get has the value of 4$. You should have known this already.

It is an investment. Look if you have $1000+ invested in this scam you could gift it to your child’s if you didn’t stay alive long enough to see the release of Sc. I‘m sure every bank will take this as safety guaranty.

All ships are punching above its weight.

In other, non English or German speaking, parts of the world the main SC threads in some game sites not only directly ban directly any criticism of SC but have actually implemented explicit rules in said threads that prohibit such criticisms. Anyone from non-English or non-German countries can comment about your countries' forums handle SC crticisim? Is there heavy censorship or are discussions open with fair moderation?
